Can you feel the magic of the holidays yet? Even though most of my decorations are still in boxes awaiting this weekend, I’ve been playing Christmas music since mid- November, so when Lev3L Digital asked their bloggers if we’d like to watch a new Christmas special and host a giveaway, a Lauren  I happily said yes. Today’s is about the giveaway for a holiday CD (more on that in a minute, but mostly it’s about Christmas Under the Stars A New Christmas special from Lauren Daigle premiering Sunday 12/6 on BYUtv app.

Christmas under the Stars with Lauren Daigle

It’s beginning to look a lot like, Memorial Day weekend and the kickoff to summer fun, so why am I posting about Christmas in May? Apparently, this lover of all things Christmas didn’t get the memo that some Americans start putting up their Christmas lights now to help spread cheer throughout the year. Are you among them?  Now that I know this tidbit of information, I’ll be looking for Christmas decorations everywhere.

Don’t feel like putting up the full display just yet? Well, have no fear, as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is dedicating this week’s Top 10 Binge Watching Guide to the most wonderful time of the year to lift your spirits and make you feel jolly!

Christmas in May: Warner Bros. Top 10 Binge Watching Guide#BingeWatchWednesdays

Happy December and happy holidays readers! We are on a countdown to Christmas at our house and while we deck our halls, we have to listen to Christmas music. It’s tradition. I jumped at the chance to receive a complimentary copy of Amy Grant’s newest CD, Tennessee Christmas from my friends at FlyBy Promotions because I LOVE this song and I live in Tennessee, so I really do know about the tender Christmas’ Amy sings about.

Tennessee Christmas CD by Amy Grant

Did you know that Amy recorded Tennessee Christmas when she was just 22? Crazy at this may sound; this beloved holiday classic was recorded in the summer of 1983! Fast forward to 2016 and Amy is still performing this song. I think you are going to love hearing it on her new CD too, which was recorded at her home in Nashville, Tennessee

This CD has a casual, warm laid back vibe that I love.  I turned it on while I’m working on my greeting cards and found it to be the perfect companion, so I know I’ll be adding it to my play list all season long.  All the warmth of family and friends gathered round’ comes through in track after track. I especially love Amy’s and husband Vince Gill remake of Baby its Cold outside.

Here are the songs on Tennessee Christmas:

  • Tennessee Christmas
  • To be together
  • Christmas for you and me
  • Melancholy Christmas
  • December
  • White Christmas
  • Joy to the World (Amy says she’d never sung this song so slowly. I think you are going to enjoy that she did!)
  • I’ve got my love to keep me warm
  • Baby, it’s cold outside (featuring Vince Gill)
  • Christmas don’t be late
  • Still can’t sleep

Here’s a video of To be Together to get you in the holiday mood!

Share your Holiday Spirit with Amy Grant:

Have you got a video or photo of you surprising a loved one during the holidays? Amy Grant wants to see them, so upload a video, share a photo on Amy’s social channels and tag them #TNChristmasSurprise. Those chosen will be part of a compilation video that Amy herself will share on her large social media outlets!  Find Amy Grant here on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook

My Thoughts:

I will always love the original cut of Tennessee Christmas, but just like Amy, I understand growing and changing in your field. She’s not 22 anymore and that is reflected on this paired down, mellow collection. This is one of those CD’s that can unobtrusively play in the background while you visit with family and friends this holiday season, and I think that is exactly what Amy was trying to achieve with this one. I think you’ll like it! You can purchase Tennessee Christmas, learn more about Amy Grant and see her whole music collection by visiting here.

If you are between the ages of 1 and 99, you have probably heard Tony Award winner, Idina Menzel as the voice of Elsa in Frozen. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard her sing Let It Go, I would be a happy blogger indeed. So when the nice folks at One2One Network sent out a request for bloggers to review Idina Menzel’s Christmas CD, I hopped at the chance. Disclosure: I received a complimentary CD to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own. This post contains an affiliate link to my Amazon account.

#IdinaMenzel Holiday Wishes CD

About Idina Menzel- We know her most recently as the voice of Elsa, from the super box office smash- Frozen, but Mrs. Menzel is a Tony award winning star of such Broadway hits as Wicked, Rent, Glee and If/Then. My daughters and I would have loved to see her in the starring role in Wicked, but can only dream that she will return to her Broadway career soon. In the meantime, we can listen to her sing some beautiful renditions of classic Christmas/Holiday hits on her new CD.

About Holiday Wishes:

On this 12 track Cd, Idina teams up with Michael Bublé for a cute duet of Baby its cold outside. And Mr. Kenny G makes a special appearance on Idina’s rendition of White Christmas. While both these songs are special in their own right, I loved that Idina added When you wish upon a star to her Holiday Wishes CD.

Songs in order of appearance on Holiday Wishes:

  1. Do you hear what I hear?
  2. The Christmas song
  3. Baby its cold outside
  4. Have yourself a merry little Christmas
  5. All I want for Christmas is you
  6. What are you doing New Year’s Eve?
  7. December prayer
  8. When you wish upon a star
  9. Silent night
  10. River
  11. Holly jolly Christmas
  12. White Christmas

My thoughts:

Even though you’ll recognize some of these songs, in true Idina Menzel fashion, she has added her own special style to each song. Some are old school cool, some tracks have a bit of a Blues influence, but I think you will love what she has masterfully created just as much as we do. We have shared this CD so much; I never know which daughter has it in her room. We take it with us while running errands because the songs are so catchy and fun to sing along with.

If you like adding new songs to your holiday play list, you should check out Idina Menzel’s Holiday Wishes CD. This would make a perfect secret Santa or teacher’s appreciation gift! You can find it at major retailers or online at Amazon using the link below. *This is my affiliate link, so if you make a purchase, I will receive a small commission on the sale.

Please share in comments: What is your favorite Christmas/holiday song? Read through the songs on Holiday Wishes and let me know if Idina sings your favorite!

Happy 2023 dear readers! I hope this finds you well rested after the holidays. I’ve been seeing oodles of January decluttering challenges online, but mine is going to be a little different. I’m doing this in an effort to remove physical, mental, and emotional clutter from my life, especially since we’ve lived in the same house for 15+ years. I hope you will join me.

Noelle by Greg Kincaid Book Review

I normally wouldn’t start a book series with the last book, but I did just that last month when on a whim, I received an email from Blogging for Books about of Noelle by Greg Kincaid. I had never heard of the McCray family, the cornerstone of a series of novels by Mr. Kincaid, but when I saw the snowy scene and the adorable little dog on the cover of Noelle, I was drawn in.

From Our Home to Yours – Happy Thanksgiving

by Linda A Kinsman, Tuesday, November 20, 2012

The Holidays are upon us once again and while I enter this season happy as I most usually do.   I feel a little nostalgic as well.

Thanksgiving

Our daughters have grown so much this year! Not only in height (I cannot keep them in long enough pants it seems), but also maturity.

My oldest is 13 and full of opinions, ideas and boundless energy. She wants to help more, do more, discover more. And I am all for helping her become her.

Some days I look at her and I swear I can see her at 3… and then other days I look at her beautifully open face and I see the lady she will be. It is bittersweet. But I tell myself to turn the page and start another chapter.

As for my 9 year old, well, she is happy with a whole lot of sassy thrown in to keep us on our toes. She still believes and hears the bells of Christmas and as I look at her sweet face I can’t help but pray for just one more magical Holiday season. I have turned several pages with her this year as well.
In the immortal words of Baby Blues - “The days are long, but the years are short”. That is so, so true!

Yep, this Mom is feeling a bit nostalgic. But, I wouldn’t trade my today's with them and my dear husband for all the riches of the world.

This Thanksgiving will find us at home, just us 4. Happily cooking and eating and watching a Christmas movie or two. Continuing traditions we started as a young family that we hope will be forever cemented in the hearts and minds of our children and one day theirs.

We are blessed to be together, safe, happy, warm and full. We are Thankful.

It is my sincerest wish that you my dear readers are the same. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and may I be one of the first to wish you a Merry Christmas as well!

We are in the home stretch, friends! With Christmas just 5 days away, I thought it was the perfect time to share an easy, tasty cookie recipe that doubles as a great last minute hostess gift or a special show of appreciation to a teacher, bus driver or neighbor.

Peanut butter toffee cookies make perfect gifts #recipe

I love baking from scratch whenever I can, but sometimes this busy work-at-home mom needs to streamline the baking process, too and that’s when I turn to premade cookie mixes. Mixes like Betty Crocker's help me keep calm and whip up a batch or two of these easy Peanut Butter Toffee cookies in no time. Trust me when I say, these cookies are so quick and delicious, nobody will believe they aren’t from scratch!

Here’s my quick and easy recipe for Peanut Butter Toffee Cookies.

Ingredients:

  • 1) 17.5 ounce peanut butter cookie mix
  • 1) 8 ounce bag English toffee bits (found in baking aisle of most grocery stores)
  • 3) Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2) Tablespoons water
  • 1) Large egg

easy peanut butter toffee cookies you'll love to give #recipe

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line cookie sheets with parchment paper. In large bowl mix oil, water and egg in peanut butter cookie batter until no longer grainy.
  • Gently fold in toffee bits.
  • Shape dough into 36 small balls or make drop cookies like I did by gently sliding off tablespoon-size dough balls onto parchment paper.
  • Bake cookies for 8-10 minutes for regular size cookies, or 9-11 minutes for large cookies.
  • Allow to cool.

If you are giving cookies as gifts like I am, get your cookie container ready while the cookies cool. I prefer using Ziploc containers because they are sturdy and reusable, which truly comes in handy this time of year! Sometimes, I even receive my container back with a goody inside as thanks

easy peanut butter toffee cookies you'll love to give #recipe

I’ve found that a dozen cookies fit perfectly in the 1.25 quart size plastic containers. Sometimes you can get lucky and find the holiday containers, but if not, you can decorate your container as festively as you want.  It really is a simple and easy way to spread kindness and cheer at this special time of year!

I hope you enjoy these cookies and all the joy that this, the most wonderful time of the year, brings.
