The dog days of summer are upon us and there is no denying that it has been a crazy hot summer! The south is so hot and humid right now, there isn’t a lot of relief from it, which means I can and will break out in a sweat doing anything outside and hey, since we’re buddies, I can break a good sweat inside cleaning as well some days. Fight fine lines and breakouts with Glycolic Acid skincare

I have always been a lover of a good skincare regimen, but until I hit 40, I never worried about fine lines or the dreaded adult breakouts I’d read about.  I like taking care of my skin, and sharing great products with you. This week, I’m pleased to introduce you to Reviva Labs Glycolic Acid facial toner, cleanser and their Sun protective moisturizer, all made to help us fight fine lines and breakouts because of their active ingredients, including Glycolic Acid.  I received these complimentary products a few weeks ago to review and host a giveaway. All opinions are 100% my own.

If you are a beauty and skincare lover like I am, you’ve probably heard of Glycolic Acid peels and cleansers.  Admittedly, some brands out there are harsh and can and will burn your skin.  Don’t let those brands stop you from giving Glycolic Acid products a try. In the right formulation, they can help improve your skin. I feel Reviva Labs got the formulation right. 

So what is Glycolic acid? This skincare ingredient is derived from cane sugar and has small molecule’s, so it can penetrate deeply into your skin making Glycolic Acid an effective ingredient for treating fine lines, acne, blackheads, dullness and oiliness. 


The products and my thoughts:

The first Reviva Labs product I tried was the Glycolic Acid Cleanser. The bottle says for mature or sun damaged skin, but don’t let that detract you from trying this creamy cleanser! This is a water activated cleanser that contains no oils or soap substances that remain on the skin. It rinses off easily and my face felt smooth and silky. I did have to apply cleanser twice to get all my makeup off, but it never irritated my skin.


I used the Glycolic Acid Facial Toner on days I didn’t wear any makeup.  Since I don’t wash my face in the shower in the morning, preferring to just rinse it with tepid water, I used the toner after my shower applying a small amount on a cotton swab and applying to my T zone. I never found it harsh, but did notice that I needed to apply a little more moisturizer around my nose on days I used the toner, maybe that comes from the toner’s extra cleansing benefits.

Finally, I applied the Sun Protective Moisturizer. This is a light cream that feels good on your skin. I did notice a bit of sweating on my face right after applying, so I would suggest allowing a few minutes for moisturizer to absorb before applying makeup. Even though this product says it’s for mature skin, my teen daughters love it! 

This really is a great unscented moisturizer that softens, makes skin look dewy fresh and offers an UVA-UVB SPF 25.  Reviva Labs states that this light cream is ideal for daily use for the outdoor type, male or female, so if your guy or son needs a little protection and moisture to those windblown cheeks, see if you can get him to try this moisturizer.


I’ve been enjoying these products for several weeks now and love how effective they are without stripping or burning my skin. I would highly recommend this whole product line. I invite you to learn more about them by visiting Reviva Labs website and follow them on Pinterest.

Update: 7-7-15:  My Thoughts:

 I'm liking how well this product helps with over look of puffiness. It does decrease redness, but takes a few minutes to completely dry. Wait till cream is no longer tacky on skin to put on concealer!

The #FrostyVoxBox from Influenster has beauty and taste

One of the things I love about receiving a complimentary box of goodies to review from Influenster is you never know exactly what products will be included in your box. They like to keep things fresh and exciting and they did just that with my most recent box. While I did receive the products mentioned below free of charge, all opinions and love of beauty products are my own.

Oh, how I wish I’d received a full size product instead of just a sample packet because this serum is nice. It’s got a light scent, goes on smooth on your face and really moisturizes. At our house, we all have different hair types and styles requiring different tools for the job. Ecotools says this brush is designed to leave your head and your hair happy. We agree! I love lipsticks, but most confess that I probably would have looked past this color while shopping in a store thinking it would be too orange-brown for me.  But, upon using it; I was pleasantly surprised how well Sugar Plum goes with my skin tone.  This lipstick glides on smoothly, and lasts about 6 hours on me. Last, but certainly not least or two products from Rimmel.  First up is their eyeliner.

Confession- I don’t wear a lot of Kohl eyeliner, finding it to be too dark on my eyes no matter how light I apply it. Such was the case with this eyeliner too. While I did like how it glides on with no pulling, I didn’t like the look on me. If you like a thicker, darker line on your eyes, you should give this one a try! I like using eye makeup removers that don’t sting or leave a greasy residue, so this Rimmel gets high marks from me there, but can it truly get off long lasting and waterproof makeup (like the above eyeliner) like Rimmel claims? 

Not really. 

Sorry, Rimmel, but your eye makeup remover was no match for your eyeliner. Nor was it a match for my waterproof mascara. And ladies, I only put on one light coat.  Still, you may want to give it a go yourself because it is reasonably priced and did take off some of my  eye makeup.  You can learn more about Rimmel London US products by  following them on Twitter hashtag #Rimmel.

Beauty Tip- If it goes on your face to improve it, it should be applied to the back of your hands as well. Hands age us almost faster than our necks do!

Now, let’s discuss Reviva Labs Nasolabial Folds multi-peptide cream. This is for all us 35+ ladies who may be seeing some parentheses around our mouths. I have them and I don’t like them, so I was especially interested in a non-invasive, paraben free solution such as this cream. 

Reviva Labs states that while no skin cream can claim it can totally remove deep Nasolabial folds, they can help reduce their appearance as well as other stubborn facial lines. They made the Nasolabial Fold cream to combat the “folds” that run from each side of your nose to the corners of your mouth (parentheses). These folds are thought to be the result of years of smiling, frowning and other facial expressions we do on a daily basis. 
However, Reviva Labs and various medical experts agree that facial contractions are not the only cause. Aging and the loss of cheek fat is a major factor. The young face is full, with cheeks that have a “fat pad”. With age, the fat falls down toward the nose causing skin sag and folds. In addition, skin along the jawline drops (creating jowls) and skin towards edges of mouth loosens, forming lines or wrinkles.

My Thoughts:
I’ve been using this cream on a semi- nightly basis for 3+ weeks I have noticed a slight change, but I remain hopeful that this results will improve over time.
I like that this cream has no scent, is non-greasy and goes on smoothly. I can feel it working on my face, even when I apply a small amount.  My opinion on this product is neutral at this point, but I will continue to use it and will update this post if I have other news.
