The X-Mas Files book review and giveaway

My thanks to Insight Editions for sending me a complimentary copy of The X-mas Files: Classified Secrets from the North Pole book and for hosting today’s giveaway. All opinions and love of Christmas are 100% my own.

About TheX-mas Files: Classified Secrets from the North Pole Book: Written by: Pat Shano/Illustrated by: Giuseppe Dimaio:

Are you ready to find out what really happens behind the scenes at Santa’s workshop? Then read on to learn all the classified secrets! This is an unauthorized tell-all penned by an ousted South Pole elf with an X-mas ax to grind who exposes what really goes on at the North Pole in the 24 days leading up to Christmas. This hilarious, day-by-day accounting pulls back the red velvet curtain to reveal the truth behind Santa’s Christmas “magic” and delivers laugh-out-loud fun for the whole family.

Meet Elmer Elffenstock

This hardbound book has 49 pages of fun activities sure, but more importantly, Elmer Elffenstock reveals top-secret answers to burning questions like:

  • What do reindeer do when they’re not pulling the big guys sleigh?

  • Why doesn’t Saint Nick hire South Pole elves to work in the workshop?

  • Who actually reads all those letters? (Spoiler alert. It’s not Santa!)

My Thoughts:

North Pole Village

I absolutely love the fun and colorful illustrations in this book! Mr. Dimaio is a gifted illustrator, which is showcased in the lovely North Pole Village scene in the photo above. This book is a fun read from beginning to end. Even the Table of Contents is fun to read.

With chapter’s like A Naughty Rampage (or Stampage) and The Spy who Pranked me, even older kids will be drawn to the book. I suggest you read the book in order, since the story starts on December 1st and counts down to Christmas. Parents of littles may want to read just one chapter per night as the pages are filled with lots of words and storylines you may have to explain. You may find that your child just wants to flip through the pages to see all the colorful illustrations and let their imagination soar as they dream of Santa and Christmas day!

The Takeaway:

I think this funny book is destined to become a beloved Christmas favorite! It’s got loads of funny lines and silly scenes that will keep kids ( and the parents reading them this story) laughing throughout the lead-up to Christmas. This is a laugh out loud book that has such a sweet and wholesome ending, you’ll be left believing in the magic of Christmas and the Jolly Old Elf once again.
