Happy March and happy Friday! It’s the 60th day of the year and only 20 days until spring begins, so you may be thinking it’s too late in the year to start a new planner, but I say every single day is a fresh, new opportunity to move forward toward your goals! I was recently invited to review the 2019 Inkberry planner and host a giveaway for you today. I can’t think of a better way to help you stay organized and productive all year by offering you a chance to win an Inkberry Planner.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle should be something we all strive for all year; and while I try to do my best most days, one look at me in last year’s swimsuit was enough to let me know I needed to revisit some of my healthy living habits. I’m not into fad diets, body shaming or negative self-talk, so my post today will focus on the positive actions I’ve taken in the past that have worked well. I think they will work for you too. Here are 3 ways to achieve your health goals this summer.
Light bladder leakage won’t keep me from my gardening goals
in #AD, #PoiseMoment, Garden, gardening, goals, LBL, protection, spring, by Linda A Kinsman, Friday, March 30, 2018
Yesterday started out like many spring mornings, with grey skies and a light, gentle rain. Nothing like the previous night's storms that broke off a big branch of my just blooming Hawthorne tree! As I stood at my window and surveyed the damage, the quote "A goal without a plan is just a wish" by Antione de Saint Exupery was top of mind.
Planning out my Gardening Goals:
I pulled out my brand new garden journal, deciding to write my gardening ideas and goals down this year. There's lots of hard work and lifting ahead, so I'm not going to let light bladder leakage (LBL) keep me from my gardening goals!
What would you like to change in your life? Be more focused
at work? Communicate more effectively? Find work-life balance? Those three
questions were in the introduction email review request I received from
Blogging for books for Habit Changers- 81 game changing mantras to
mindfully realize your goals by M.J. Ryan. My answer to all three
questions was yes! Is your answer yes to
one or more of those questions too? Then this book may be for you.
About Habit Changers-
81 game changing mantras to mindfully realize your goals by M.J. Ryan:
“Often, the biggest obstacle to change lies in our most deeply ingrained
habits: those automatic thought
processes that operate outside our consciousness, and yet have a profound
impact on our behavior, shaping everything from how we respond to challenges to
how we engage with others.
The good news is that we can literally rewire our mental habits for the better. In Habit Changers, executive coach M.J. Ryan shares the secret weapon that has helped her highest performing clients improve their focus, better manage under pressure, enhance their emotional intelligence, become more effective leaders, and more.”
Inspired
by the Buddhist tradition of Lojong,
or "slogan practice," habit changers are simple, one-line aphorisms that, when recited, reprogram your brain’s
automatic responses. Here, Ryan explains how to use the 81 Habit Changers
that have demonstrated the most profound and lasting results. They include:
- You can’t say yes if you can’t say no
- Don’t push buttons that don’t need to be
- Handshake your fear
- Stand where you’d rather not
- Remember your highest intention
- Outsource your worry
- Reach for the better thought
My Thoughts:
Even though I’ve never used slogans, or mantras to improve
my life or work goals, I was open to the idea of trying a new way of improving
myself. As soon as I received this book, I flipped through the table of
contents and landed on the chapter for happiness. I think I’m a pretty happy
person, so I was intrigued at the idea of learning something new.
The two mantras under happiness are:
- Reach for the better thought
- Change it, leave it, or accept it
According to the How
to Use Habit Changers chapter, I was off to a great start. The author, M.J.
Ryan explains to begin you are to scan the
table of contents which are grouped together by the issues they address. Pick
one topic, (like I picked happiness)
don’t pick ten, or even two! It’s the single-pointed focus that makes this work
says M.J. Now- this is the tricky part, stay with the phrase that
resonates the most with you, adapting it so it feels right for you and your
situation. Turn it into a question if you need to. There is no right or wrong way here. Just
stay focused on one key mantra before you move on to another.
Exploring:
As happy as I am- or thought I was, I’m still on the
happiness chapter. Folks- this is deep stuff that is working! I’m allowing myself to analyze my work/life
balance and ask myself tough questions like is what I’m doing today is truly making me happy? That’s me
reaching for the better thought and fully exploring the change it, leave it, or
accept portion of this chapter.
Final Takeaway:
I feel confident in saying that while this book isn’t to be
read or used in the traditional read chapter one and move forward style we are
accustomed to, I will read and utilize every page in this book this year
because I want 2017 to be a good year in ALL aspects of my life.
Connect:
M.J. Ryan states that our capacity to change is our greatest gift as human beings. Habit
Changers will help you take control of your destiny and more easily achieve the
success and happiness you desire. That sounds like a fantastic plan to me!

Disclosure:
I received this book from Blogging for books for this review. No other form of
compensation was given and all opinions stated are my own.
It’s hard to believe it, but here we are- starting the sixth
month of 2015! It wasn’t that long ago that we were all dreaming and setting
goals for the New Year. The first week
of June is the perfect time for a mid-year check in with those goals. I did this
on Sunday and while I have met some goals in my most areas of my life; I found
I needed to re-route my path in other areas. Here are my 5 easy tips to get my
yearly business goals back on track.
1. Make planning time a
priority.
It’s not enough for me to say I want to re-work how I’m
tracking my blog and social media assignments; I need to formulate an action
plan. By setting aside 30 minutes to review what I’ve been doing so far this
year, figure out what parts work and what parts are making me dislike this
necessary task, I’ll be able to finish 2015 strong and have a true workable
solution moving forward.
2. Purge, Often.
This goes for all incoming items in your life: junk mail,
emails from companies you might shop with in the summer, company catalogs,
group invitations that don’t fit into your wheelhouse, etc. Allow yourself to pass on a request or
business event if it truly isn’t a good fit. Purging is easy once you allow
yourself to make a decisive decision and then stick with it, which leads me to
number three.
3. Decide.
In business you can’t sit on the fence for long when it comes
to making decisions to approve or reject money making projects, because at the
end of the day- all businesses need to have money coming in at all times. Set aside 15 minutes to list the pros and
cons of a given situation and then make your choice. Then take an actionable step:
make that call, or send that email, something that will put forward motion on
your decision so you won’t talk yourself out if it.
4. Write it down.
You’ve made your decision; you’ve set your goals in motion.
Good! But did you know that the simple act of writing them down helps
your brain store them in your memory, making them much easier for you to
remember and stick with? Try it! Write out one goal on a piece of pretty
stationery, or jot it down on a colorful post-it note (my personal favorite), and
it’s almost guaranteed you’ll remember to focus on that goal.
5.Ask for help.
This tip is still a
work in progress for me. I still
struggle with asking for help from my family. As a work-at-home-mom, (WAHM), I felt if
I managed my time better, I could still do it all and take on a bigger work
load. Wrong!
Now, my goal is to let my family and co-workers know when I have a
big assignment, and then be ready to delegate when people ask me how they can
help me. It’s easy for us to shrug off offers of help, but we really shouldn’t.
Whether we need task oriented help, like please unload the dishwasher, or we just need
an ally to help us remember to drink more water, by asking others to help you,
you are inviting them into your life on a more personal level, which helps you
be a better you!
Hopefully, my 5 easy tips will help you stay, or get back on track with your yearly business goals!

Happy New Year! |
I had a wonderful time ringing in the New Year at home with my sweet husband and kids. We played Uno, snacked, laughed and before we knew it, midnight was here.
How did you ring in the New Year? Did you make any resolutions? I used to make resolutions, but found I respond better and reach my goals more often when I make weekly & monthly action plans.
I’ve got big plans for My WAHM Plan, which is now officially a dot.com!
I’ll keep the focus on home, sharing some of my DIY projects both inside and out. I’ll share books and recipes, home office tips, the trials and triumphs of raising daughters and of course Reviews!
