Maintaining a healthy lifestyle should be something we all strive for all year; and while I try to do my best most days, one look at me in last year’s swimsuit was enough to let me know I needed to revisit some of my healthy living habits.  I’m not into fad diets, body shaming or negative self-talk, so my post today will focus on the positive actions I’ve taken in the past that have worked well. I think they will work for you too. Here are 3 ways to achieve your health goals this summer.

 Step One: Positive Body Image:

Want to know what strikes fear in the hearts of young ladies and women in summer all around the world? Trying on swimsuits! Whether you feel your bikini days are long behind you or not, ask any female over the age of 12 and we can tell you there are “trouble spots” on our bodies that we just wish weren’t there. This isn’t a post about the crowded fitting rooms and stressed out females, although I could write a very long post on it! No, today I want to talk with you about feeling okay with where you are NOW and small easy to take steps that may help you get where you want to be this summer and beyond. Find something you LIKE about your body (in a swimsuit or not) so you can move forward today with a more positive body image.  I’ll start- I like my hourglass figure.  Do not allow your brain to add BUT to your thinking and start a list of what you don’t like!  Attaining your health goals needs to start from a positive place!

Step Two: Go Outside More:

Truth- we are a bunch of cooped up people! We work inside, we drive to the gym to workout inside, and we spend Sunday’s inside churches, homes and movie theaters. When do we ever just go outside and walk around or play? For most of us, the answer is not often.  I’m making being outside more a top priority for the rest of the summer and beyond.

Walking, playing, gardening, lifting weights, even just hanging out on your back deck all offer amazing health benefits! You’ll unplug- which for me is HUGE! Sure, you may sweat a little, but that will lead to you hydrating. Water is best, but if iced coffee is more your thing, I have the perfect product for you to try- Ensure Max Protein Café Mocha Nutrition Shake

This delightfully tasty drink is a perfect on-the-go summer sipper! I like that each 11-ounce bottle has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee ( sourced from a Columbian coffee extract),  has 22 minerals and vitamins, is only 150 calories and the biggie-has 30 grams of protein!  This is my third step in achieving your health goals.

Step Three: Consume More Protein:

Before you roll your eyes and think that I’m advocating cutting carbs- hear me out. Adding more protein to our daily intake is only going to help us feel fuller longer, which in turn will help us make healthier food choices.  When you add more protein to each meal, you are automatically cutting the carb load of the meal, which is a total win. Now, if you are like me and struggle to find breakfast options because you don’t eat eggs- adding an Ensure Max Protein nutrition shake to your morning routine just may be the ticket.

I got my Ensure Café Mocha shakes at Walmart. You can find them near the vitamins. There is also a non-caffeinated option for those who may not like coffee or have a caffeine sensitivity.  Ensure Max Protein Milk Chocolate nutrition shake.

This shake has all the same great nutritional values as the Café Mocha minus the caffeine. I can’t wait to try this flavor chilled over ice. I’m sure my teen daughters are going to love it too! You can read all the nutritional information on these drinks by visiting Walmart

If you would like to give Ensure Max Protein drinks a try, head over to Ibotta first where you can save $2.00 off the purchase of them at your local Walmart store.
