I almost missed the first color of the month for 2017 because I was trying to talk myself out of my first color choice, because it would mean for the third year in a row, I've picked a shade of blue for January's color of the month. But, the more I let this post sit, the more I knew this was my pick, so without further delay I give you my January color of the month: Blue Gray.

My inspiration came from a photo of this amazing door.

Once I clicked over to learn more and saw that this door represented Diamond Vogel's 2017 Color of the Year, I was hooked!

Here is my Pinterest board collaboration. I hope it inspires you to embrace the blue-gray days of winter and look forward to springs thaw!

Happy Nesting!

Hello my friends! I've missed you. I took some much needed time off from writing and creating here to get my family and I prepped for summer, which officially starts tonight. Hello summer! Today I'm seeing red, a beautiful true red inspired from crazy good summer fruit like strawberries and watermelon. Take a look at my Color of the month for June inspiration and collab board below.

Even if Pantone hadn't announced two colors of the year, one being Serenity Blue and the other Rose Quartz, I still would have chosen a shade of pink for my February color of the month because it works and shows up everywhere this time of year. I thought so last year as well when I chose Sunset Pink for my February color of the month!

February 2016 Color of the Month: Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz is a universally flattering color to wear, decorate or accessorize with in my opinion and if you love Pinterest, you know I'm in good company!

Here is my Pinterest Board for February. I hope you enjoy it and find inspiring ways to use Rose Quartz in your daily life.

Color of the Month- November -Marigold Orange

in , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Friday, November 13, 2015
Happy Friday dear readers. We are finally going to get a hard freeze here in middle Tennessee, which has me scrambling to put up some of my containers that still have flowers blooming. Besides Mums on the front porch, I still have Marigold's blooming on the back deck. I love their vibrant, happy color! These are the inspiration for this month's color of the month.

As always, I hope you find color inspiration from my shares here and my Pinterest board collection.

The holiday's are knocking on our doors and it's hard to believe the year is winding down. Take a moment each day to look for color all around you. Maybe it's the blue of the sky, or the vibrant color of a person's coat. Living in the moment grounds us and helps restore our energy.

Color of the month- July 2017 - All White

in , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Monday, July 10, 2017
July is a hot and humid month here in the southeast so wearing breathable cotton clothing is a must and my go to color? All white. According to Farrow & Ball, the craftsmen in paint & paper:
“All White is exactly what it says! Unusually, it contains no other pigment except for white, creating the softest most sympathetic color without the colder blue undertones of a brilliant white.”

Just look at this pretty All White room they share for this versatile color.

Color of the Month January 2016 - Serenity Blue

in , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Friday, January 29, 2016
I picked this color at the beginning of January, right after Pantone announced they had picked two colors of the year for 2016 and then life happened. Colds and snow and sick extended family and viola~ I'm just now posting my color of the month to kick off the year. I know you'll forgive me my tardiness because you are just awesome like that.

Serenity Blue pins for color of the month

Here's my Pinterest board to help further our love of this color blue. I want to wear it everyday until spring!

Thanks for letting me know how much you loved this blog series I started last January. I have a lot of fun with these posts and love getting comments here and likes on my pins.

Happy October everyone! September flew by in a blur of activities and I never got my September color of the month blog post up. I feel bad about missing it, but in all honesty, I was so burned out (see last post here), that I wasn't sure if I even wanted to post these anymore. Then, a magical thing happened over the weekend- my inbox overflowed with positive "bloggy" things and I had to make the decision to sulk and give up on blogging, or suck it up and come back swinging. I chose the latter.  So, without further ado, I wanted to get my color of the month post up ASAP so I can add to it (and so can you!) all month.

For October, I was inspired by all the pretty Raven black I've been seeing everywhere, including both my cats! While they aren't full raven black cats, they both have the prettiest black fur!

Color of the Month - June 2015 - Turquoise

in , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Thursday, June 11, 2015

One of the easiest and often prettiest ways I've found to lighten and brighten our home is with decorative glass items. My husband and I are both drawn to unique glass pieces, so you'll find of lot of it in our home. June's color of the month- Turquoise, was inspired by some of my favorite bottles and vases.

Turquoise bottles, vases, home decor, color, design, improve

The wonderful thing about  the color Turquoise is how each piece is unique in color depending on the light and the material. Some pieces look bluer, some pieces, greener. Yet all of them beckon you to dream of water and warm days.

Here's my Pinterest board for more inspiration and ideas on how to decorate your home and your life with this beautiful color.

Happy warm summer days everyone!

Colors play such an important role in our daily lives. I thought this would be a fun and creative way to share my love of colors with you. Each month, I'll choose a color that reflects the month's mood or theme as I see it. I'll set up a monthly Pinterest board and share it here with you, my awesome readers.

This months color pick is Ice Blue.

Color of the month- July 2017 – Burgundy

in , , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Thursday, August 17, 2017
We did a lot of back to school and dorm room shopping over the last few weeks, which led to my color of the month post being shared a little later than I wanted. The upside is I discovered the perfect color of the month to share because we saw it everywhere! From velveteen throw pillows to cute dresses, a deep, rich, warm and inviting Burgundy has me longing for crisp fall days.

Happy Friday dear readers! Have you missed me as much as I've missed you? I took some  much needed time off to recharge my batteries so I could come back refreshed and ready to share all kinds of fun and creative ideas with you. I'm not "officially" back until Monday, so today I'm sharing a guest post from organization expert with Modular Closets, Marty Basher. I hope you enjoy her insightful ideas and tips on how to get all the storage spaces in your home organized during National Homeowners Month. Even if you aren't a home owner yet, this will help you get your space organized.

Color of the Month- March 2016 Succulent Green

in , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Friday, March 11, 2016
If we named months by the color we associated with them, March would simply have to be called green if you ask me! Green is everywhere! From the tiny light green fronds on my weeping willow, to the verdant green grass I see from my window, to the delicate green leaves of my newly emerging succulents. The photo of them below was the inspiration for March's color of the month.

I've curated a Pinterest board full of beautiful succulent greens this month. If you have a pin that would be perfect for my collection, leave me a comment and I'll add it!

Color of the Month April 2015- Lilac

in , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Tuesday, April 14, 2015
Spring might have officially arrived on March 20th, but in my mind spring really arrives when the final threat of a freeze comes and goes. Here in middle Tennessee that's early April. I know it's really spring when my Lilacs bloom! So to honor spring and my dear departed Grandma who always allowed me to play and pick her Lilacs to my hearts content- I give you April's color of the month!

Here's a picture of one of my Lilac Bushes.

And here's my Pinterest board for the month. I hope you like it and will remember to get out there and smell the beautiful spring blooms around you. Dig in the dirt a little. Laugh in the sun a little. Spring is the time to renew your soul!

Hello and happy September, dear readers. I’m coming back from my lackadaisical summer blogging routine, refreshed and ready for all the busyness of fourth-quarter blogging and film award season. I can’t think of a better kickoff than celebrating two major milestones.

Celebrating September Milestones!

Spring will arrive in just 10 short days! I can’t wait for the world to awaken all around us in varying shades of beautiful, lush greens.  In honor of this season, I chose Emerald Green as March’s color of the month.  Not only will this color be seen in our landscapes- we will be seeing it in our wardrobes and homes as well. Dark green is having a moment this spring and I say embrace it and welcome Emerald Green into your life.

Merry Christmas! This is the final color of the month post for 2015 and I couldn't think of a more perfect color combo for this special honor than silver and gold.

This month's colors were inspired by the classic Christmas Carol and all the beautiful displays I see everywhere!

Take time to be creative this month

in , , , , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Wednesday, January 03, 2018
I adore January for a multitude of reasons. My youngest daughter was born this month.  Linens and home goods are on sale this month. I get to plan and organize a lot of things in January. Filling out new calendars and planners for the year is time well spent in my opinion. As I was organizing my stack of planners and notebooks, I noticed I had several craft and hobby books I needed to find a home for as well. That’s when I realized that unless I made time to be creative this month (and every month of the year), I would need to block out time to allow myself to enjoy hobbies and creative endeavors.  January is the perfect time to be creative! Dust off one of your hobbies, or start a new one. Read on for some creative ideas.

Happy October! We are well on our way to Halloween, that frightfully fun night where we get to dress up, have fun with family and friends and eat candy! This month's color was inspired by a book I'm currently reading as part of fan-girl style book club I have with my teen daughter. It's called Raven Boys and I'm enjoying the read!

Why not take a moment to enjoy April's color of the month- Sherbet Orange with me. This month's inspiration came from a recent sunrise that had a beautiful layer of sherbet orange in it.
