I am counting down the days until spring officially arrives
later this month. I know I’m not alone in this count- down to March 20th. My friends and I are watching for and taking
note of all the markers that spring is on its way. Here in the south, there is a riot of
beautiful Daffodils in yards everywhere, the Tulip trees are blooming and the
Bradford Pear trees are budding. Since
we gardeners are in a bit of a holding pattern for now, I thought I’d share 3
free (and fun!) gardening apps I’m going to try out this spring to help us pass
the time until we can really get out there and garden!
1. My first app choice will help all of us who have ever walked
through a park or lovely garden setting and thought what is that flower? Aptly
named- What’s that flower, this app
will help you identify flowers by color, habitat, and even number of petals.

What’s that flower app will narrow down your options to a
couple dozen, and then you just scroll through that list until you find the
right flower. Once your flower is found,
you can read about it and see if it will work in your garden space/home.
2. My second app just may add a
serious amount of phone time to my schedule because it covers so many topics I
find interesting. The DIY Gardening Tips app helps you find great gardening and
DIY tips that you can easily use. Plus
it has tons of useful information for vegetable gardens, something I want to
explore more this year. There’s tips on flowers and herbs and even garden
design!
3. My third choice is Bee Smart App. In a time when our bee populations are
dwindling at an alarming rate, I know all gardeners share my concern and
passion to help aide the bee by planting flowers and shrubs they like. What
attracted me (pun intended) to this app was their mission statement: The
BeeSmart™ Pollinator Gardener is your comprehensive guide to selecting plants
for pollinators specific to your area. Never get caught wondering what plants
to buy again! I like the sound of that and it looks so easy to

Hello from rainy Nashville. I don’t know about you, but I am more than a little ready to welcome in March and spring weather! Before we say goodbye to February, the month of love, I thought I’d show my pet loving friends some love and host a pet food giveaway sponsored by Nature’s Logic®. Taste Text Time:
As most parents can attest, it doesn’t matter if you are feeding little humans, or fur-babies, if the food doesn’t taste good, it won’t get eaten, no matter how much we explain how good for them it is!
As I suspected it might be, the chicken meal feast dry kibble was a hit! All three of my cats (2 indoor princesses, and one garage/outdoor sweetie) love the taste and gobble it up when I serve it to them. There are several flavors available including Chicken, Duck/Salmon, Turkey, Sardine and Rabbit.
Wet food was a miss with one cat!
Next we tried the chicken feast wet food, which received two out of three paws up. The consistency of this wet food is actually on the dry side, almost dense, so only two of my kitties liked it.
I wasn’t really surprised that my Fiona didn’t eat this wet food because she has always preferred a more moist food, so please keep this in mind when making your purchases. Their wet food comes in the same flavors as the dry food. I offered each variety to Fiona and each time, she declined eating. She was happy to play with the cans and help me take photos for this post.

My Thoughts:
I agreed to view this movie based on my love of Anna Camp's acting in the Pitch Perfect movies. As for the other actors, I only had facial recognition for Justin Chatwin and zero knowledge of Isabelle Fuhrman and Kyle Allen prior to this movie. After watching 1 Night, I'll be on the look out for them in future roles because they all did wonderful jobs portraying their individual characters in this film.
This is an independent film that has so many good moments that when you put them all together you come away with a solid movie worth watching. The movie takes place at at hotel on prom night, so I found myself drawn to the teen characters because my teen daughter will be going to prom soon. I thought the writer/director did a great job of showcasing the events that might take place on prom night.
It took me a moment to figure out why Elizabeth and Drew were there on prom night. At first they seemed out of place. Out of step. Were they chaperones? Were they in town for the evening and just happened to pick that hotel? A few minutes more into the movie and you figure out that they are in fact out of step and struggling. Movie Preview:
At times I did feel the story line and pace was very methodical and that some story lines could have been developed more- but for an Indy film of its length, I would watch it again! Plus, it has a surprise ending which left me smiling! It's definitely a feel good romantic movie that shows that yes, love can happen at any time.
"1 Night is about rekindling that passion and love as well as finding it for the first time, by following two couples at different stages of their romance."
My Takeaway:
