in , , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Monday, November 07, 2022

Even though Halloween was just seven days ago, I decided to start sharing my gift guides today, so that you'll have ample time to consider the products and make an informed purchase decision. I wish we could slow the holidays down and not push them out right on top of each other, don't you? To that end, I'm starting this year's guides off with a fun family games gift guide that just might come in handy for all your gift giving needs year round.

Ready, Set, Shop!

Macy's One Day Sale Friday 12/11

Hello from Tennessee Titans territory! Are you ready for some football this Sunday? We are heading into week six of seventeen and our Titans are starting to come together after a nice win last weekend!I thought it was a good time to show our team some love and share this great recipe my husband I came up with for the super bowl last year. Our hearty buffalo blue cheese dip is our take on the classic entrĂ©e, it’s a dip that eats like a meal and is easier to clean up after.

Hearty buffalo blue cheese dip recipe

Doesn't this look tasty? Here's what you'll need to add to your shopping list:

Ingredients:

 Makes 3 cups

  • 1 Large can of Chicken Breast meat in water
  • ¾ jar  Blue Cheese Dressing
  • 2 tablespoons (or more to taste) Cayenne based Hot sauce (think Tabasco®, Franks® or Texas Pete®)
  • 1 cup celery, diced small (reserve celery greens for garnish)
  • 1 package Neufchatel Cheese or softened Cream cheese

Directions:

In large mixing bowl, mix all ingredients together until Chicken breast meat is broken apart and ingredients mixed in.
Garnish with celery greens and chill for at least an hour before serving.
Serve with your favorite chips, crackers, carrots, celery sticks or any dip-able veggie.

My husband loves this dip best with big dipper corn chips and celery sticks. He’s requested it for this week’s game and since it takes just 5 ingredients and about 10 minutes to make, I’m happy to oblige his request! Another great thing about this recipe is it is easy to double, or even triple the serving amount to feed a crowd!

Whether you watch the game from home, or are heading out to do some tailgating, try making and serving our Hearty Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip. It really is perfect football fan food!

Do you watch football games with your family? Do you have a favorite NFL team, or do you enjoy college games more? Please let me know in comments!

It's that time of year again in middle Tennessee! The kids have been back in school about a month now, we've all got our normal routines established and the leaves are just starting to fall.

So what time is it?

Tennessee State Fair time!  This has been a fun family event for us for years now and it just gets better every year!

Did you know the Tennessee State Fair has been held every year (with the exception of the 4 year span during World War II) since 1906! The fair has entertained Tennessee families for more than 100 years. It attracts more than 230,000 visitors annually.

There are some big things going on this year including the Tennessee Two-Crust Apple Pie Contest, Hendrick's Racing Pigs, tons of livestock events, live music daily, and of course the rides and games! This is the big draw for my girls!

For the hubby and I,  it just wouldn't be a fair without all that not so good for you fair food!
The Fair is boasting their world famous fried Goo-Goo cluster, a local delicacy. You MUST try it! Of course they will have all your all time faves... funnel cakes, cotton candy, corn dogs and every other yummy thing you can think of. I love the way the aromas meld together, in the air, at the fair... can't you just smell it now?

My family is so excited to go to the fair. We plan to make an entire day of it.
Seeing all the attractions, tasting all the food and playing a few games. The Tennessee State Fair is a fun, family friendly event that has a little something for everyone.

Friday Nights are for Family Fun

in , , , , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Friday, June 07, 2013

Ever since our daughters were old enough to voice their opinions, Friday night has been reserved for family fun.  Whether it’s going out to eat at a favorite restaurant or staying home and having dinner and movie fun, we always take a vote.

My husband and I feel it is important to let our daughters help make these choices because honestly, there are so many things in their lives that they have zero control over. School is one of the major contributors to this. From grumpy teachers to redundant and what seems like, non-stop testing, our kids have very little say in their day.

But it’s June! It’s summer time here in Tennessee!

fun

School is out and the living is easier here at our house, so tonight the girls get their say. Maybe they will want pizza and a movie or maybe we will go out to eat and then come home and catch fireflies or play flashlight tag. Maybe we'll go bowling. Or maybe we will all sit on the back deck and talk about our day while we listen to the frogs and toads sing.

The important thing is our togetherness and some fun!  Now I might be singing a different tune by the end of summer when we’ve all had a little too much togetherness and the litany of sibling complaints start.

Some of my favorites: “She’s looking at me!” “She’s touching me!”  “I’m bored!” And of course the question all parents should get a nickel for every time they answer it - “Are we there yet?”

I may even have to answer that question tonight if we decide as a family that we are heading out for dinner and other family type fun. But, I’m fresh and full of optimism for our Fun Family Friday nights!

It’s just June 7th after all.

What are your Friday night traditions?
