Free up your hands with a tablet stand

    in , , , , , , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Sunday, February 23, 2014

I love office supplies and trying out new ones but I never saw a need for a tablet stand because I don’t use a tablet often. However, my daughters use their tablets all the time, so when Shoplet.com asked if I wanted to try a tablet stand free of charge, I said sure. I’m very glad I did.

One of the things I noticed right away was how small the tablet stand was. It folds down for easy storage which is a huge plus for me. Whether I keep it in my office, or one of the girls takes it to their room, it will fit in a drawer or cubby easily.

Another nice feature of this tablet stand is that you can use your tablet in portrait or landscape mode and rotates 360 degrees.

    My WAHM Plan

The hands free design makes playing games, pinning, following recipes (both on and offline) a breeze. I even found it holds paperwork to ease viewing and entering information on spreadsheets.

All in all, we really like this tablet stand and find it is a good value for the price. I invite you to go to Shoplet.com to learn more about all the Kantek products.

Please share with me in comments: do you use a tablet often? If yes, do you use your tablet more for work or fun?

Happy Friday!  Brrr… another cold snap has taken over and I for one am so ready for temps above 40. While I’m wishing for spring along with most everybody I know at this point, I’m thankful for January and all the “new” stuff it brings.

    Like calendars and planners.

    MyWAHMPlan.com

I love calendars. No, scratch that, I love functional calendars. Not those little purse thingies with their little bitty squares that I need two of per activity. Nope I like extra room for my leftie scrawl. So when Shoplet.com asked me if I’d like to review a desk calendar and weekly business planner for House of Dolittle, I happily agreed.  I received the products shown above free of charge to share my opinions, which are 100% my own and may differ from yours.

    About House of Dolittle:

House of Dolittle has been helping people be more productive during their daily activities since 1919. They happily make all their products in the U.S.A. in Chicago, IL. All products are made with 100% post –consumer paper and soy inks.  My kind of company!

This desk top calendar reminds me of my many years (pre-kids) working outside the home in various secretarial and administrative positions.  I had to have one on my desk.  I wrote on it constantly. Not just important dates and key points of conversations, but reminders of what I needed to do and all the audibles tossed at me during the day from fellow office employees.

For at home use, this beauty resides on our family desktop. We all sit there and work and get frustrated when there is no paper to write on (usually because somebody carted off the notepad placed there). Now everybody can write all they want and have a visual reminder of what they wanted to remember instead of just telling me.

    MyWAHMPlan.com

It’s all mine and is strictly for business. I have a lot to keep track of daily with my husband’s business, my blog and my Avon business. Way too much to put in my family planner. The weekly planner has lots of room for me to write on each day, an at a glance week view that I use often and it even offers an expense report ledger on the bottom of each page making it so much easier for me to keep track of the his, mine, ours business spending we do.  It will also serve as a reminder of expenditures we need to remember come tax time. Ugh, taxes! Another thing to "like" about January! *wink*

I’m very pleased with these products, they are easy to use and are helping me stay on task. It's not to late to buy yourself some new office supplies like these or the many other products available at Shoplet.com

As always, I hope you found this review helpful. Please share with me in comments, what type of planner or calendar system do you use to stay organized?

    Paper Trails

    in , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Wednesday, March 14, 2012

I am surrounded by paper of one sort or another. Each day I set out to follow the Golden Rule of organization: Touch the item only once. Make a decision and put it in its home.

This has always been tricky for me in our his & mine small business family. Some weeks its tough enough to handle the barrage of mail, school papers, appointments, coupons, invitations, etc. that makes up our family paper trail.

Today as I set down at my laptop (which resides in my office, which is the dining room table). I have to move piles of paper. I’m covered up with note pads, planners and pens.  So that’s why my hubby couldn’t find a pen last night! Oops.

I am an old school note taker and have notepads strategically placed throughout the house. Except for the bathrooms and our bedroom. Some rooms are work and call free zones.

Clearly, I have broken the Golden Rule. Several times in fact.  And, I’m teaching my girls to be awesome notepad users as well.

I started the frustrating task of clearing my work station; and un-earth notes from the girls.  One note says “I love you Mama, what’s for dinner?  Ah, I love the little hearts and cute little furry-baby! My oldest is so artistic.

Another note says “Can I watch TV?” This one has highly decorated yes or no boxes for me to make my choice. This one is from my youngest. Again, my heart squeezes with that special Mom love feeling.

I try to think back to what I was doing that made them write to me rather than talk with me.  I swallow my Mom Guilt and decide to save these notes to put in their memento books.

Which are,  of course, labeled and filed in their forever home with only one touch.

    Not.

How do you handle your paper trail?

What is your paper style? Are you a stacker, a filer, a tosser?

    Please share your thoughts.

    Growth Spurts

    in , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Monday, January 09, 2012

Laughter and family harmony was the key to my weekend and I hope, dear readers, you were able to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones as well.
It was yesterday afternoon, while playing track-ball in the backward with my girls, that I finally, very quietly turned the page and mentally let go of my little girls.  I’d been putting this milestone off.  Doing my best Scarlet O’Hara “I’ll think about that tomorrow” …
but while watching my girls yesterday, a voice inside my head said “Linda, you are the Mom of an almost teen and a tween, embrace it”!
Babies they are not, little girls they are not…. young ladies with opinions and ideas and ever evolving bodies… oh, yeah! Ms. T turns 13 in March, and my baby, my Ms. M, turns 9 this month.
Sigh. Smile. Take mental snapshot. Welcome the next chapter with all its growth spurts.
Growth spurts are all around me in this new-year.  I’m a Mom is my late 40’s now, raising two beautiful, well rounded daughters. I'm evolving right along with them. It's pretty amazing. There’s a subtle shift, a maturity that I would have never imagined 10 years ago!
My husband’s business is evolving and will take us down new and (we pray) prosperous roads.
My blog is evolving too. I’m in the process of updating my URL on all sorts of sites. I had 82 link backs to www.mywahmplan.blogspot.com. Now, according to Alexa.com, I have zero. I guess that’s a step backward, but changing my URL was well worth it! I’m hoping for a growth spurt here by spring.
Because I listed my blog with Technorati first a year and a half ago, I’ve started there. They need me to claim my new URL so, here’s your code Technorati: QVD724TBSGYW.
Have you listed your blog with Technorati yet? How about Alexa? I receive visits from both, so I suggest you check them out.  They could help your blog have a growth spurt too!
    Have a great week!
