Friday Faves: Autumn Analog Edition

No matter what you call offline hobbies, they are back and bigger than ever. I’m happy to see young and old alike take up analog hobbies like reading a print book instead of reading on their Kindle, growing a garden, taking care of houseplants, lighting a candle during downtime, or cooking at home. My Friday Faves is a fun look at what analog hobbies have been vying for free time lately.

Friday Faves: Autumn Analog Edition

You know I love gardening, but after the crazy, long hot summer we had, my creativity and desire to tackle fall projects was practically non-existent. So, I took myself to our local Lowe’s garden center and everything was better!

Croton Plant

Just look at the gorgeous autumnal colors of the Croton. If this beautiful, low maintenance plant doesn’t grab your attention and make you want to bring it home, nothing will. I promised myself once I got my porch cleaned and my pots cleared out, I was going back for at least two of these perfectly Autumnal plants. I think they’d be a perfect addition to our gardens.

Next, I’ve enjoyed flipping through the pages of The New American Diner Cookbook by Julissa Hernandez Roberts. I received a complimentary copy for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

The New American Diner Cookbook

Filled with over seventy five classic diner food recipes like:

  • Loco Moco
  • Apples and Dutch Baby
  • Three Bean Salad
  • Grilled Cheese
  • Juicy Lucy Burger
  • Boston Baked Beans
  • Pork Chops and Apples Sauced

And many more mouth watering recipes, which include desserts and a secret menu. I’ve already made the Juicy Lucy burgers and learned there was more than one person claiming these cheese stuffed burgers!

I also enjoyed seeing the diners shining in all their glory. I’d love to have a diner, complete with booths and stools at the counter, in my neighborhood. This is a fun cookbook filled with nostalgia brought to life by a bygone era. I think we could use more diners in our neighborhoods! This fun cookbook, full of neon signs and greasy spoon vibes is perfect for cooks, or cookbook collectors. Get your copy at Quarto.com

Next, I had fun watercoloring the pre-printed templates in Creepy Cute Watercolor book by Stephanie Bayles. This was a gifted book for review as well, and these are my opinions.

Creepy Cute Watercolor

Even though my brush was brand new out of the water colors, it was still shedding,so I think I’ll switch to a different type of brush before I continue this fun hobby.

If you’d like to learn to paint hauntingly adorable oddities, with no drawing skills required, this book is for you. It’s full of perfect for the season drawings that will help your creativity soar. Learn more about it here at Quarto.com

I was ecstatic to receive a  complimentary copy of The Complete Book of Ford Mustang, Fifth Edition by Mike Mueller.

The Complete Book of Ford Mustang, Fifth Edition

Why was I so delighted? I used to own a 1966 Ford Mustang way back in the day and it was my pride and joy. I worked and saved every cent needed to purchase her myself. And, I was the only girl in the neighborhood with a Pony! Were the guys envious? You know it!

If you’d like to take a ride through 60+ years of America’s most iconic pony car model by model, with highly detailed illustrations and information on each make and model, since 1964 ½,  then you’re going to want to get your hands on this book. It makes a wonderful gift and coffee table book. Find out more at Quarto.com.

Lastly, I want to share my first Autumn scented candle of the season, Midnight Pumpkin, which was a thank you gift from Miller Candle Company.  As you can tell, as a book ambassador, I read alot, ao I like to make this time enjoyable. There’s something so cozy and soothing about a candle burning while I read.

Sadly, they ended their ambassador program, but were kind enough to send me one last box of seasonal goodies. Since I adore candles, I wanted to share this one with you.

Midnight Pumpkin Candle

Midnight Pumpkin soy coconut candle  has top notes of Lychee, Apple, Plum, Cranberry. Mid Notes of Pumpkin, Clove, Cinnamon, and base notes of Amber, Musk, and Cedarwood.

It’s a lovely scent that doesn’t overpower a space. It does have a good and lingers like a delightful air freshener after it’s snuffed. I’ll treasure the reusable whiskey glass this candle comes in once the candle is used up. I invite you to learn more about this and all the fine made in Texas products Miller Candle Company offers here.

That’s it for my first Friday Faves of October. I hope you enjoyed learning more about my analog hobbies I’m currently enjoying.
