We’ve made it through September! A month I usually love and view as the kickoff to all things Autumn, but Mother Nature had other plans. The Metro Nashville area broke records, but not in a good way. After August’s searing heatwave, we then had the second-hottest September on record and the first-ever September with no rain. Thankfully, it’s cooled down a bit, and I can actually turn on the oven without guilt. Just in time for this special day.
It’s National Homemade Cookies Day!
I love making homemade cookies, but it looks a little different now that I'm an empty nester. Gone are the days when my family could put a dent in two dozen freshly baked cookies. Now, I have to employ the bake-and-take method, where I bake, divide them up, and send them home with our daughters.
Their absolute favorite cookie is my no-egg chocolate chip cookie, made with dark chocolate chips. They are light and crispy on the edges and gooey in the center. A perfect chocolate chip cookie by our standards. And very popular here on the blog as well.
It seems my family and I are in good company when it comes to our love of chocolate chip cookies. They are rated as the number one favorite cookie in the United States. Second place seems to be a tie between peanut butter and sugar cookies.
I’ll be baking up a couple dozen of these tasty cookies this evening. It's a great way to ensure I’ll see both daughters this weekend, and the hubby will be thrilled as well.

While I’ve enjoyed taking breaks from blogging this summer, I’m ready to be back on my regular blogging schedule. Stay tuned for more autumn-themed posts.
