DIY Feels Like Home Candles!

You may remember in June I shared my first Simply Earth Ambassador Kit, where I shared Six Diffusing Recipes, and I had so much fun with that kit. I felt confident going into this month’s recipe box, which is filled with everything you need to make your own essential oil candles. If you want to have a toxin free candle, read on!

I love their amber jars and the attention to detail on supplies. This kit has everything you need including the easy to follow instructions on the Feels Like Home DIY Recipe Card, which is such a time saver! Like all crafts and DIY projects, I suggest reading the instructions carefully before starting to ensure you have time to complete the project.
How to Make The Feels Like Home Candles in Seven Simple Steps:
1. Open candle making kit; remove wick, wick sticker, and wick centering tool.
2. Place the wick stickers on the bottom metal part of your wicks. Stick wicks to the bottom center of each of your 8oz candle jars.
3. Place the opened bag of wax in the microwave. Microwave on high for 3 minutes. If wax isn't melted, keep microwaving at 30-second intervals until completely melted. Mine took 3 minutes and 30 seconds in a 1000 watt microwave.
4. Pour half of the melted wax into each of your candle jars, taking care to not let any of the hot wax touch your skin. This is a little tricky to eyeball the amount you are pouring, soI used a spoon to even out wax between jars. I also place a piece of cardboard under jars in case of spills.
5. Add your choice of 150 drops of essential oils to each of your candles and gently stir with the wooden mixing spoon. Be sure to incorporate the essential oils completely. I decided to do one candle with 150 drops Homebody Essential Oil Blend and one candle with 150 drops Autumn Air Essential Oil Blend.
6. Thread the wick centering tool through the wick and place the tool on top of the jar to keep wick centered. Allow wax to totally harden.
7. Once wax is cool, trim the wick to about 1/4" and your candle is ready to burn, but please burn responsibly. Always keep an eye on your lit candle and don’t let your pets or kids near them.
My Thoughts:
I have quickly become a huge fan of Simply Earth’s monthly recipe boxes. They have thought of everything, which makes crafting and DIYing truly simple and fun again. I highly recommend their kits, especially this month’s Feels Like Home Kit if you are a candle lover like me and if you prefer a lightly scented candle.
The Takeaway:
Candles made with essential oils won’t have the same strong scent as candles created with synthetic fragrances, but their delicate aroma and gentle radiance create a cozy ambiance. If you are trying to eliminate toxins in your home, Simply Earth products are a great option.
