One of the things I love about receiving a complimentary box of goodies to review from Influenster is you never know exactly what products will be included in your box. They like to keep things fresh and exciting and they did just that with my most recent box. While I did receive the products mentioned below free of charge, all opinions and love of beauty products are my own.

#FrostyVoxBox #beauty #snacks #herbs

As you can see, there are several beauty items in my Influenster VoxBox (yay!) plus a Celestial green tea, fruit Vine bites and some Thyme. Yes, Thyme! See what I mean about Influenster keeping things fresh? Since there’s no thyme like the present (sorry, I couldn’t resist!), to share some product reviews with you, I’ll start with the kitchen staple:

McCormick Gourmet Thyme:

McCormick has updated the packaging on their herbs and spices, but you can rest assured, all the great flavor and quality you’ve come to expect from this brand is still there. I love adding Thyme to oven roasted chicken dishes, shaking it into soups, marinara sauces, stews and on sauteed vegetables. To learn more about McCormick Gourmet, visit them on Facebook @ #McCormickGourmet.

Fruit Vine Bites:

Fruit Vines #cherry #sweetside

Fruit Vines are a new, soft chewy fruit candy from the Red Vines family. They are available in two fruit flavors: strawberry and cherry. We received the cherry and my kids loved them! I'll be keeping these in the house for snacking when the kids have sleep-overs and parties. To learn more about Fruit Vines, visit them on Facebook.  #Sweetside.

Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane Decaf Green Tea:

Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane green tea

I love Celestial Seasonings teas! I love the very idea of a holiday inspired flavored tea, full of pepper-minty goodness!  I will keep this one in the house for myself and my kids! You can learn more about Celestial Seasonings by visiting them on Twitter – hashtag #CelestialTea.

Now let’s move on to the beauty products in my #FrostyVoxBox. I love trying new makeup, skincare and beauty tools, so I was in my element with these products!

#7 Boots Beauty USA Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum:

#7 Boots Beauty USA Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum

Oh, how I wish I’d received a full size product instead of just a sample packet because this serum is nice. It’s got a light scent, goes on smooth on your face and really moisturizes. I like it a lot and will use the savings coupon I received to buy more, so I can decide where it helps with my fine lines.  You can learn more about #7 Boots products by visiting them on Facebook  #GetADVANCED .

EcoTools Brush:

EcoTools Brush

At our house, we all have different hair types and styles requiring different tools for the job. Ecotools says this brush is designed to leave your head and your hair happy. We agree! We can use this on dry or wet hair with great results. You can learn more about the EcoTools brush by following them on Twitter – hashtag #LoveMyEcoHairBrush .

NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum:

NYC Expert Last Lip Color in Sugar Plum

I love lipsticks, but most confess that I probably would have looked past this color while shopping in a store thinking it would be too orange-brown for me.  But, upon using it; I was pleasantly surprised how well Sugar Plum goes with my skin tone.  This lipstick glides on smoothly, and lasts about 6 hours on me. At only $1.99 this is a frugal ladies dream lipstick and I will be buying more NYC colors soon! You can learn more about NYC Color Cosmetics by following them on Twitter – hashtag #Sugarplum.

Last, but certainly not least or two products from Rimmel.  First up is their eyeliner.

Rimmel Scandal eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner:

Rimmel Scandal eyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner:

Confession- I don’t wear a lot of Kohl eyeliner, finding it to be too dark on my eyes no matter how light I apply it. Such was the case with this eyeliner too. While I did like how it glides on with no pulling, I didn’t like the look on me. If you like a thicker, darker line on your eyes, you should give this one a try! You can learn more about Rimmel London US products by visiting them on Facebook  #Rimmel.

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover:

Rimmel Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

I like using eye makeup removers that don’t sting or leave a greasy residue, so this Rimmel gets high marks from me there, but can it truly get off long lasting and waterproof makeup (like the above eyeliner) like Rimmel claims?

Not really.

Sorry, Rimmel, but your eye makeup remover was no match for your eyeliner. Nor was it a match for my waterproof mascara. And ladies, I only put on one light coat.  Still, you may want to give it a go yourself because it is reasonably priced and did take off some of my  eye makeup.  You can learn more about Rimmel London US products by  following them on Twitter hashtag #Rimmel.

As always, I hope you’ve found these reviews helpful and will keep them in mind the next time you’re shopping.

I am in no way affiliated with L’Oreal Age Perfect and do not earn a commission or percent of sales.

Last month I wrote a review on L’Oreal’s newest skincare line, Age Perfect. I was in love with these products then and I can happily say; I’m still using them with great results. If you’d like to learn more about this new line, please read all about them on my review here, but here’s a quick overview:

Why try L’Oreal Age Perfect cell renewal? L’Oreal says:

"As your skin ages, skin cell renewal decreases significantly, leaving your skin looking dull and dry. Age Perfect cell renewal accelerates skin cell turn over, bringing millions of new cells to the surface each day. The result?  Fresher, re-plumped, visibly renewed skin." Since the love is still there for me, I want to share that love with you by offering you a $2.00 off coupon for any L’Oreal purchase!

Reviva Labs Face cream and serum Giveaway

in , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Tuesday, December 02, 2014

It’s #GivingTuesday and there is a lot of happiness floating around! I hope you’ve had a chance to share your ways of giving today on your favorite social channels. I joined in on Twitter and it was amazing seeing all the wonderful acts of kindness and generosity at the height of shopping season. If you’d like to learn more about #GivingTuesday, please read my post here

I couldn’t think of a better way to honor a day of giving than by hosting a giveaway! Thanks to Reviva Labs, I’ll be giving away two of their all natural products. They sent me a complimentary bottle of Elastin Serum Concentrate and a jar of Nasolabial Folds cream to try and share with you.  All opinions are my own.

Reviva Labs #skincare

About Reviva Labs Elastin Serum concentrate:

First, let’s talk about Reviva Labs Elastin Serum concentrate. Make no mistake ladies, if you are over 25, you may need this product! After 25, your skin begins losing its supply of Elastin. This loss is aggravated by lots of sun exposure, temperature extremes, stress, tobacco, alcohol, drying winds just to name a few culprits.

Reviva Labs Elastin #serum

Reviva’s Elastin Serum Concentrate feeds skin special quality Elastin to boost skin elasticity and firmness and can be used alone or under other creams. This serum works best on the little wrinkles you may have on your around your lips or eyes.

My Thoughts:
After using this product for 3+ weeks, I can see a difference on my face, neck and hands on the days I have time to use this before I put on my moisturizer. The serum goes on easily, dries quickly, and has no scent or greasy feel. I like it and do recommend it!
Beauty Tip- If it goes on your face to improve it, it should be applied to the back of your hands as well. Hands age us almost faster than our necks do!

About Reviva Labs Nasolabial Folds multi-peptide cream:

Reviva Labs Nasolabial fold #cream

Now, let’s discuss Reviva Labs Nasolabial Folds multi-peptide cream. This is for all us 35+ ladies who may be seeing some parentheses around our mouths. I have them and I don’t like them, so I was especially interested in a non-invasive, paraben free solution such as this cream.

Reviva Labs states that while nskin cream can claim it can totally remove deep Nasolabial folds, they can help reduce their appearance as well as other stubborn facial lines. They made the Nasolabial Fold cream to combat the “folds” that run from each side of your nose to the corners of your mouth (parentheses). These folds are thought to be the result of years of smiling, frowning and other facial expressions we do on a daily basis.
However, Reviva Labs and various medical experts agree that facial contractions are not the only cause. Aging and the loss of cheek fat is a major factor. The young face is full, with cheeks that have a “fat pad”. With age, the fat falls down toward the nose causing skin sag and folds. In addition, skin along the jawline drops (creating jowls) and skin towards edges of mouth loosens, forming lines or wrinkles.

My Thoughts:
I’ve been using this cream on a semi- nightly basis for 3+ weeks I have noticed a slight change, but I remain hopeful that this results will improve over time.
I like that this cream has no scent, is non-greasy and goes on smoothly. I can feel it working on my face, even when I apply a small amount.  My opinion on this product is neutral at this point, but I will continue to use it and will update this post if I have other news.

Health and Beauty products Review

in , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Tuesday, April 09, 2013
Disclosure: Thank you Vitacost for sending me these products free of charge to facilitate this review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinions, which are 100% my own.

You may remember my health and nutrition bars review for Vitacost in March where I explained that I had received a box full of goodies from them and I wasn’t told upfront what I might receive.  The products in the March review were well received and were a good fit here on My WAHM Plan.
I can’t say the same about this second batch of products, some of which I would have never purchased for myself or agreed to review here. However, I am a “product reviewer and brand awareness builder” so I will fulfill my obligation as such.

clay mud

Product Description:
Redmond clay facial mud helps to clarify your skin, remove excess oil, shrink pores, draw out toxins, tone skin, remove impurities, and deep clean. Redmond Clay Facial Mud is safe for all skin types.
Redmond Clay is naturally absorbent and very gentle. Acting like a sponge, it draws dirt, grime, oils, impurities, and other harmful toxins into its internal structure. Free of chemicals.

My Review:
I really liked this product! It did all that it claimed it would without drying my face. I loved that it was fragrance free. When you need to leave a product on your face for 15-30 minutes, scent is important. I highly recommend this product and would purchase it again.

reading glasses

Product Description:

Go Green! Readers:  Eco-friendly reading glasses made with recycled materials. Optical quality frames made from recycled polymer plastic.  Flex-comfort spring hinges made with recycled steel.  Recycled water used in lens manufacturing.  Package contains four fashionable frames styles for women in the same reading power. Available in reading powers +1.00, +1.50, +2.00, +2.50, +3.00. Readers come with coordinating protective eyeglass case.

My Review:
This product was not a good match for me. I do not require +2.50 readers and if I did, I would have never picked this style for myself. In an effort to do an honest review, I asked my daughter who wears glasses to try a pair on. She said the lenses worked fine but the glasses arm broke right off as she was trying to put them back in their case! At $23.99 for a 4 pack, you are paying $5.99 for a pair, so these might be perfect for somebody who misplaces or are hard on their readers.
I recommend you proceed with caution because of how easily the arm broke off these glasses.

conditioner

Product Description:

Innersense color radiance daily conditioner revitalizes and nourishes color treated hair. 100% color safe. Pure ingredients of rice bran oil, pumpkin seed oil, sunflower seed oil and rooibos tea combined with Shea butter to provide high antioxidant protection from color fading.

My Review:
Here is another product that I normally wouldn’t have purchased because I don’t have color treated hair. However, I wound up really liking this daily conditioner as a weekly deep conditioner. It is that thick and luxurious with little beads of pulp that leaves your hair super soft and nourished and it smells so good! I did notice it had a tendency to make my natural copper highlights look a bit brassy.

I highly recommend this product to those that color treat their hair.
* Product may be temporarily out of stock, since it is not available for purchase on website. I used another inneresense product link and picture out of necessity in order to give credit to inneresense.*

Beautiful Curls Shea Butter Curl defining Gel:

gel

Product Description:

Certified Fair Trade Shea Butter, handmade by Alaffia, herbal extracts and plant gels hydrate and define waves and curls. With natural vitamins for shiny, lustrous, long-lasting curls, this all natural gel reduces frizz and provides residue-free soft hold for natural styles of all kinds. Also great for finger styling, twist-outs and braiding.

My Review:
Since I don’t have curly hair, nor do my daughters, this product gave us a challenge. But, we rose to the occasion and again my daughters were game to help me with a review. They used the product on their hair while braiding. They used it very sparingly and surprise! Their hair looked smooth and shiny, not greasy at all. But, I could not abide the scent! It was so over the top herb-ally, it reminded me of something I would put on my salad!
I would recommend this product for those with thick curly hair who need control and moisture and don’t mind a highly scented product.

Honey Girl Organics personal lubricant:

                                               Courtesy: Vitacost.com

Product Description:

Organic Skin Care from Hawaii's Rich Beehive Harvest This organic personal lubricant softens and smooths skin, while enhancing sensual intimacy. It helps relieve dryness. Created from pure and organic ingredients. Completely free of parabens, glycerin's, fragrances, hormones, silicone's and petroleum products.

My Review:
Another surprise product in the box I would have never agreed to review here on my family friendly blog.
I used this product as a skin softener in my delicate under bra area after a workout. It did sooth, soften and moisturize if I used a very small amount. It caused irritation if applied in more than a scant amount.
I would not recommend this product because I did experience irritation on delicate skin.

Product Description:

America's #1 Selling Weight Loss Supplement Brand, Lose Weight, Stimulant, Free Great Tasting, Natural Flavors. Losing Weight Can Taste Great. All-New! The 1st Weight Loss Gummies from Hydroxycut™. Lose Weight and Reduce BMI with Clinically Proven Key Ingredients.
New Pro Clinical Hydroxycut Gummies are a delicious new way to get the clinically proven key weight loss ingredients in Pro Clinical Hydroxycut in great-tasting gummies.
Average weight loss with key ingredients (lady's mantle, olive extract, cumin extract, and wild mint) was 20.94 lbs. in the 12-week study and 16.50 lbs. in the 8-week study. All groups followed a calorie-reduced diet.

My Review:

I wanted to like this product because it I want to lose a few pounds and these gummies are stimulant free.
I tried taking the gummies as per the instructions (2 gummies before meals, 3 times a day). By the second day, I noticed I had a headache at lunchtime. At first I didn’t contribute this to the Hydroxycut, but when my head hurt again at dinner time I took notice. I also noticed no discernible difference in my appetite.
On day 3, I only took 1 gummy at breakfast and I still had a headache so I stopped using them.

I don’t recommend this product unless you read the ingredients listed at Vitacost and know you won’t have a reaction to one of the ingredients. I couldn’t take this product long enough to offer a valid opinion on whether it helps with weight loss.

Please be sure to visit Vitacost to discover their low prices on name brand items and to learn more about any of the products in my review.

I hope you found these reviews helpful. I would love to hear from you if you’ve used any of these products.
