Have you ever gone to a lunch spot because you’d heard about their amazing sourdough rolls? That’s what led my daughter and I to drive to Nolensville, a quaint little suburb of Nashville a few weeks back to lunch at Wabash Southern Kitchen. If you’re local, you’ll want to add this hidden gem to your lunch spots.

Sourdough Rolls that are worthy of a Drive!

Sourdough Roll

When we heard that Wabash Southern Kitchen makes their sourdough rolls in-house, with their homemade aged sourdough starter, we were sold! And let me tell you, this warm, flaky, delightfully tasty roll does not disappoint! I enjoyed each bite, whether it had butter on it or not. We want to order some for an upcoming potluck. Sure, we’ll have to take another drive, but it will be worth it because we can grab lunch again.

Southern Style Meat and Three Lunches:

Almost Famous Mini Bowl

The last time we ate there, I ordered the Almost Famous Mini Bowl, which is mashed potatoes, chopped, fried chicken tenders, roasted corn, cheddar cheese, and lastly, gravy.

Nothing about this lunch is light, no ma'am. This is Southern food. Maybe you grew up eating it, or maybe you even cook this way yourself, but more than likely, this type of food is something your Mom, Auntie, or Grandma might whip up and it is fantastic.

Don’t be fooled by the term “mini” in the name. There’s plenty of stick-to-your-ribs food in that bowl. I couldn’t finish it and happily ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. The only thing missing was another tasty sourdough roll with butter.

BBQ Fried Chicken Mac Bowl

My daughter opted for an equally filling lunch option, their BBQ Fried Chicken Mac Bowl. Yep, it’s as hearty as it sounds. This bowl contains chopped fried chicken, cole slaw, and pickled red onions sitting atop a big serving of mac and cheese. All this is topped with their Tennessee Gold BBQ sauce. Talk about a fusion of flavors! This bowl has it!

Again, the serving size proved too much for my daughter as well, so she had lunch for the next day too.

Cute, Clean, Casual, Friendly, Dining:

Wabash Friendly Dining

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch date at Wabash Southern Kitchen. The place is as cute as can be, both inside and out. There’s plenty of seating available, with both table and booth options. Weather permitting, you may even want to dine outside and do some people-watching.

We had the place to ourselves when we first arrived for lunch, but by the time our rolls were served piping hot, locals and travelers alike started filing in.

The staff were welcoming, greeting each of us and asking if we’d been there before. That’s how I knew locals from travelers. It made me happy to see people driving out to support this hidden gem of a place. My family and I love finding out-of-the-way places to try.

It helps small businesses stay open, which in turn, helps the community and staff.  Wabash offers plenty of meat and three-style lunch and dinner options, along with a weekend brunch menu that includes Beignets, Biscuits, Cinnamon Rolls, Scrambler Bowls, and Plates all at affordable prices.

When To Go:

Wabash Southern Kitchen

Wasbash Southern Kitchen is open Tuesday - Saturday 11 am to 9 pm, and Sunday 11 am to 3 pm. It’s located at 7301 Nolensville Road, in Nolensville TN. It was a pleasant 30-minute drive for us from Williamson County. They also offer online ordering and catering on their website

If you’re unfamiliar with the area, be warned Nolensville Road gets busy! It’s the main thoroughfare connecting Nolensville with Nashville, so be careful pulling in and out of the parking lot.

If you love good food that's affordably priced, why not check out Wabash Southern Kitchen the next time you’re in the area?
