Our Safer Brand Lawn- Part 2

I received  free products from Safer Brand to facilitate this review. However, all opinions are 100% my own. 

Back in May, I wrote the first of a 3 part review series for Safer Brand products. This type of review is unique here on My WAHM Plan because a certain amount of time must elapse before using one or more of the products sent to us for review free of charge by Safer Brand. 


We are following this chart as closely as possible.

Apply Ringer lawn restore in April for fast green up.
Apply Concern weed prevention plus in May to prevent weeds.
Apply Lawn restore in July to maintain strong, healthy root systems.
Apply Ringer lawn restore in September to winterize your lawn.

 Today’s post - Part 2 is the follow up of products used in May.


 About Safer Brand Restore:

“Ringer® Lawn Restore 0% Phosphate organic fertilizer will give you a lush, thick, green lawn without the worries associated with traditional synthetic chemical fertilizers. This organic lawn fertilizer is also extremely easy to use! This 40 lb. bag will cover 4,000 square feet and will last up to 8 weeks per application. Ringer Lawn Restore will 'green' your lawn up quickly, usually within 3-5 days and will last up to 8 weeks.”


The Review:

We can really tell the difference in look, color and feel on the parts of our lawn that received the Restore treatment in late May.

We are very pleased and will by utilizing more product next weekend focusing on the dryer patches in our lawn. Last review to come in  late September/early October.



About Safer Brand Weed Prevention Plus :

“An application of Weed Prevention Plus® in the spring will prevent weeds from taking over your lawn.  Weed Prevention Plus® is powered by all-natural corn gluten meal which contains naturally occurring substances that grow bacteria and starve weeds of the nutrients the seed's tiny feeder roots need to grow. It is a pre-emergent herbicide and causes the weed seedlings to die before their roots ever have a chance to become established. Apply Weed Prevention Plus® when soil temperature reaches 55ºF (10ºC).”



The Review:

We are satisfied with the over-all weed control of this product, however, we still have some break through weeds. 
To be fair we must mention : heavy spring rains prevented us from getting this product on the ground during the optimum pre-emergent time frame and the type of weeds (crab grass) is one of the hardest to eradicate.

 Overall, we do think this weed prevention method worked far better than other prevention methods we have used in the past, especially in our flower beds. Last review to come in late September/early October.

We have and will continue to recommend the Safer Brand products  for all your organic gardening needs.

Getting the lawn we want with Safer Brand products

When a representative from Safer Brands contacted me about possibly doing a review for their organic products I quickly researched the company prior to saying yes. We have had bad experiences with lawn and garden products in the past and I wanted to make sure these products were something beneficial and truly safe to work with. Within 3 minutes of visiting their informative website, I was replying to that email with Yes, please!  Here's what I learned.

That sounded really good to me since we live on a pretty large property and safety of our yard, outside animals and waterways is very important to us. We waited for the arrival of our products.

Trying Products:

Our products arrived in late April just in time to apply. The only problem was it rained every time we were free to apply the products.  We finally caught a break in the weather and got busy.

I even added the Weed Prevention Plus product to my flower beds prior to mulching.

 My Thoughts:


I was pleased that the Safer Brand products had no chemical odor. The products smell more grainy than anything. In fact, I saw curious birds coming down to peck and investigate the pellets under a tree. I didn't have to worry about them, my outside kitty, or the lawn! 


So far I am very pleased with the Safer Brand products and will keep you updated with the results as we work through the product application process which happens in July and September. After that I will give my full review.
