Here in the south, humidity starts rising in late March or early April and doesn’t abate until late October, early November. That means for the better part of a year, southerners, or anybody in a high humidity area are seeking ways to lower the humidity in our homes in late summer. I was thrilled when I received the opportunity to try a Newair Compact Portable Air Conditioner and dehumidifier because our AC unit needed some help in certain areas of our home. Read on to learn my thoughts on it.

Humidity Relief in Sight!

NewAir Portable AC Unit

My thanks to Newair for sending me a complimentary portable AC Unit. No further compensation was given. All opinions are my own.

The NewAir Compact Portable Air Conditioner arrived right on time. We were entering another round of high temps in the Nashville area, and I felt like our AC ran constantly day and night to cool and dehumidify our home, but we still felt uncomfortable at times.

We’d just had new ducting installed and our AC unit checked, so it wasn’t that our AC unit wasn’t working, it was a matter of adding an additional cooling and dehumidifying source in our home's hot spots. That’s exactly what the Newair Compact Portable Air Conditioner - 8,000 BTU unit is for!

About Newair Compact Portable Air Conditioner - 8,000 BTU:

back of the NewAir AC Unit

If you need quick relief from the heat and humidity in a part of your home, this portable, compact AC unit is for you! I really like how small the machine is and that I can just roll it into a room I want to cool and dehumidify, plug it in and let it work its magic. On a particularly sultry evening, I used it in my kitchen while I made dinner and the NewAir air conditioner cooled the space and made short order of the humidity produced by boiling water. A huge plus on this unit is the self-evaporating system eliminates the need to empty the water tank, even in my humid kitchen!

Other Key Features of the NewAir Compact Portable Air Conditioner Unit I Like:

programable top and remote of AC unit

  • Comes with a remote control for simple control from across the room
  • Space-saving design for smaller homes/rooms making it easier to use and store
  • Water tank doesn’t need to be emptied often
  • Easy and temporary window installation that won’t damage property
  • Cool Your Way with programmable timer, thermostat, and fan speeds

My Thoughts:

I’ll admit, this isn’t a silent AC unit, but what AC unit is? As it worked, I noticed the sound lessened, and after the family returned home and our regular home noises started, I barely noticed the noise from the NewAir AC. As with any new appliance, there is a learning curve, so as I read the manual and play around with the programs, I’m sure I can find a way to make this run more seamlessly and become a background noise.

The Takeaway:
