Fall, One of the Happiest Seasons of All - My WAHM Plan

Fall, One of the Happiest Seasons of All

I simply adore this season for a host of reasons and I have passed on that love to my girls.

The other morning it was a little chiller than normal and the front window was steamed up from our cat looking out. I hadn’t even noticed it as I got my oldest to the bus on time; but it was THE first thing my youngest noticed. She was so happy to see that steamed up window.  Why does that make you so happy I asked? Because she said “it means that baking season is here”! She is her mother’s daughter.
As if by some physic link my oldest texted my from the bus saying that the nice crisp morning made her think about my Apple Pie. Coincidence? I think not.
See it has been so ghastly hot this summer, here, there, everywhere! That I haven’t done much baking. I was loath to turn the oven on for the 2 minutes it takes to broil some sourdough crustini’s, but there was simply no way my family was doing without them.
We love fall here, not just for the baking, but for the cooking of favorite recipes and the seasonal activities- Fall Festivals, watching football games, going for nature walks on our property, driving down the Natchez Trace to look at the pretty leaves, raking up our own batch of pretty leaves, yard work and prep that is soothing in its traditions. Ever since my girls were little they have helped my ready our yard and porches for winter. This year will be no different. With one exception: they are bigger and filled with more stories and memories.
Fall is a busy, happy time here and I hope it is for you and yours.
Do you love Fall as well? What is your favorite Fall activity? Share your love with us!

  1. Yep, I'm a fall lover....I love the food, smells, cooler weather, and fun decorations

  2. Fall is ,y favorite season and one the only one that has me baking up a storm

  3. A trip to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch!

  4. Hi JR911,

How could I forget to add smells to my Fall Love list? Thanks for the reminder! It really does smell so good in fall.

  5. Hi Jenn,
Fall is the perfect time for baking isn't it?
Thanks for stopping by, I'm going to pop on over to say Hi to you in a bit.

  6. Hi Heather,

I love going to our local Pumpkin patch with the family, but we haven't made it to an apple orchard in years, so I'm putting that on our to-do list.
    Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I <3 fall too! The trees, the blue skies, the FOOTBALL, the pumpkin spice lattes... Yay! :)

  8. I love fall too =^-^= My most favorite season and the perfect time to go hiking!

  9. Hi Susan,
Yes, fall is the perfect time for hiking! We have been waiting for the cooler days(where there is less chance of snakes)to go explore our back acreage. It's a mini-hike. If that goes well, the kids want to go hiking for real as they say.
    Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Hi Kelly,

I see football is big at your house too. :-)
The kids know if Daddy is yelling at the T.V. not to worry, it is simply a part of football season.

I was going to stop for a Pumpkin spice latte this morning, but the line was crazy! I will have to wait till later in the morning and take my laptop and go "work" for a while.
    Have a great day!

  11. Such a beautiful reminder of fall. Your posting brought back so many memories of my own.

We have not had the hot weather like you, so fall slipped up on us. The trees are beginning to change slowly and the gardens are aching for some tending to get ready for winter. My dog's fur is much thicker.

My sister will be coming soon to do crafting for a long weekend filled with craziness...can hardly wait!

  12. Hi Donna,

I bet fall is amazing in your neck of the woods. I would love to see some pictures~(Hint, hint)!

I can almost hear the laughter that will be coming from you and your sister soon. Enjoy your special craft time together!

Asl always, thanks for stopping and commenting.
    Blessings to you!

  13. There is one thing that my Son and I love to do during Fall. It is to help the birds, squirrels and owls prepare for winter. We take down all the feeders and watering supplies, clean, fill and return them. Then we take shiny stuff like pieces of tin foil, old pie tins (heaven knows what they do with those!) and put around in areas away from the feeders to attract the squirrels. It's fun to watch the birds vying for pieces of string and fruit. We have identified every species now that lives in our yard and they come back every year! It's wonderful to hear the Owl hoot EVERY morning at the same time (7:10) is a real treat! He usually stays with it for a good 20 minutes or so! There is one drawback. It makes coming in from morning coffee on the porch kind of tough!

  14. Hi Penny,

What a wonderful Fall tradition to share with your son! Your yard sounds wonderful and full of wildlife.
We try to identify our birds here as well. We have Barn owls, but no Hoot Owls.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your favorite Fall activity!
    Have a great day!

I'd love to hear from you!
