Mobile Mishaps- $ 40 Amazon Gift Card # Giveaway - My WAHM Plan

Mobile Mishaps- $ 40 Amazon Gift Card # Giveaway

I have been saving for a Smartphone (and the data pack needed to thrive with said Smartphone).
I thought I had a pretty good idea of cost and had even started thinking I just might be looking pretty smart by years end.
While I've been scanning sales and dreaming, I've also been reading and hearing some pretty funny (no wait, sad!) stories about Smartphone deaths. Some by dogs, coffee, kids, toilets, water. I realized I'm going to need to budget for replacement insurance as well, because bad things can happen to good phones!

Like the time I washed my husband’s cell phone!

I could have sworn I’d checked all his pockets, but obviously I hadn't. How many pockets are on a pair of cargo shorts I ask you??  I didn’t find it until I was putting that load in the dryer. Oops!

Thank goodness it wasn’t a Smartphone because replacing one would have cost hundreds of dollars because he wasn’t eligible for an upgrade and we hadn’t opted for replacement Insurance. We didn’t think we'd need it.  When I do get my Smartphone, I will be ready thanks to Asurion.

I dropped my phone into the toilet not only once, I'm glad it's still going strong

Hi Mary,

I hope you could still use your phone or at least get it replaced ASAP. Thanks so much for stopping by, commenting and entering.
Good luck!

I haven't had any huge mishaps with my phone, just dropped it. Since it has a rubberized front and backing, it survived.

It needs replacing as it's over three years now.

My friend dropped hers in a public toilet...then her husband dried it out. Can't even imagine wanting to touch it again!!!

We all went to the beach one day and my husband forgot about his pocket contents which had his mobile phone and car key. His phone amazingly dried out but the key only manually works, not the remote part - oh well. Big lesson learned lol :)

Oddly our phone mishap was something we would have never thought of in the first place. But we were staying at family members house and we were sleeping on a futon in the second living room husband put his phone on the window ledge when we went to sleep & when we woke up in the morning his phone would not work and had a mind of its own. No amount of rice would get the moisture out, it was just flopped done. Never put your phone in the window ledge at night lol

Linda said...

Hi JC,

Oh, I think the toilet dunk is probably the worst! You must have been lightening fast on the retrieval for it to still work. :-) Thanks for stopping by, good luck!

Yay for the phone, Boo for the car key! Those keys are expensive to replace too. Maybe there is an insurance for them too?
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing, good luck!

Hi Angie,

Now that is an interesting mobile mishap! I wonder what the weather was like? Cold? Humid? That is wild, but thanks for the helpful tip, I will not put my phone on a window ledge.
Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

WEll years ago my phone went missing. I thought I'd be all smart and call it, hear it ringing in the house, and be able to locate it.

So I called it.

And some guy ANSWERED.

It had been STOLEN.

Linda said...

Hi Tammy,

I call my phone all the time listening for the ring, usually finding it buried in my purse.
I think I'd freak out if a stranger answered it. What did you do?
Good luck and thanks for entering!

Omg same thing happened to me! It had fallen in the toilet and when I got it out I tried to shake the water off and it fell in the sink when the water was running. Definitely not my brightest moment.

Alwayslaughing said...

Not only had I dropped my phone in the toilet, but while trying to shake off the water, I dropped it in the sink while the water was running.

Linda said...

Hi Alwayslaughing,

I like your name! Oh, all that icky water couldn't have been good for your poor phone! Good luck!
