We’ve made it to July and are in full summer mode, and I, for one, am pretty happy about it. Don’t get me wrong, I could do with fewer hot and humid days, but summer is meant for slowing down and laughing as often as possible. If you’ve never experienced the laugh-out-loud hilarity of The Drew Carey Show, stick around to read about TV’s favorite Everyman.

My Thoughts:
Sitcoms held a special place in our collective hearts in the 90s and early 2000’s and there were so many good ones to watch, you simply couldn’t get to all of them. We had our “must-see TV” and we scheduled our lives accordingly so we could either tune in the evening of the first airing, or tape the episode to watch later.
I didn’t have time to add The Drew Carey Show to my TV watching lineup back in the day, but I caught some of the specials and found Mimi, Drew’s zany nemesis, to be a bit obnoxious, so I didn’t feel I was missing out on the fun back then.
Fast forward 30 years, and I still find Mimi obnoxious and the comedy sappy, but I’m enjoying it!
I’m a few episodes in and find it to be a funny walk down memory lane. The acting is solid, as is the music, and the cast seems to really like each other, especially Drew and his buddies. Drew is endearing and has an honesty and humility about him that I admire.
Mimi is more of a distraction with her wild makeup and attire, but by the ninth season, who knows? She may grow on me!
