My Thoughts:

This is such a heartwarming story of overcoming adversity. I was immediately drawn in from the moment the trailer started and I can’t wait to see this film in its entirety. Since this film covers multiple genres including sports, biography, and drama, it should be entertaining for young and old alike.

I received a screener pass for my husband and me to see this film at our local theater a few days before it was open to the public and I am happy to say that the trailer really did justice to the film and both my husband and myself left the screening feeling uplifted and happy.

That's not to say there aren't a few scenes where the dialog dragged or that some of the subject matter isn't difficult to hear and watch played out on the screen. For instance, there is a punishment scene where the father takes his belt off to whip one of his sons.

You could have heard a pin drop in the theater because of the raw emotion and charged scene. Dennis Quaid shines as a God-fearing preacher and father trying to come to terms with everything at that moment and in many more moments in The Hill. The whole cast did an outstanding job bringing this story to life and I highly recommend it!
