Did you know that Friday, April 14th is National Gardening Day? Are you excited for another gardening season too?  I’ve been itching to get started on all the spring gardening chores I have before me. Sadly, I lost several key focal point shrubs due to a harsh cold snap this winter, so I was thrilled when Nature Hills asked if I’d be interested in learning more about their exclusive French Manicure Panicle Hydrangea. Below you’ll find a wealth of information they shared with me. I hope it helps you decide if a hydrangea is right for your garden.

Endless Summer Hydrangea:

Endless Summer Hydrangea in my garden

My thanks to Nature Hills for providing the information for today’s post. No compensation was given, however, I'm using my affiliate links to Nature Hills in this post, which means I may receive a small commission, should you make a purchase. Thank you.

I only have one hydrangea left, an Endless Summer purple-flowered beauty, that may or may not bounce back from last winter. The photo above is from last May, so I remain guardedly optimistic that my Endless Summer may return. Since I’m a huge fan of pink flowers, I think the French manicure panicle Hydrangea will be a perfect addition to my garden.

According to the gardening pros at Nature Hills, The Hydrangea paniculata, commonly referred to as Panicle hydrangea, is a stunning shrub that belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family and is native to Asia. It has been cultivated as an ornamental plant in gardens and landscapes for centuries due to its large, showy flower heads that bloom in summer and fall and its easy-to-care-for nature.

The French Manicure™ Panicle Hydrangea is a variety of this plant that features unique cone-shaped flower heads made up of numerous small, white, or pinkish flowers. The blooms start off white, like the photo below) and gradually develop a pink or red base as the seasons progress.

How to Care for a  French Manicure™ Panicle Hydrangea:

To care for the French Manicure™ Panicle Hydrangea, it is recommended to prune it in early spring and provide consistent watering and well-drained soil. The plant can tolerate both full sun and partial shade and benefits from a layer of mulch in its planting bed.

The plant is known for its ability to change color throughout the growing season, with the blooms starting off white and gradually developing a pink or red base as they mature. This can create a striking visual effect in the garden.

The French Manicure™ Panicle Hydrangea is a hardy and adaptable plant that can tolerate a range of growing conditions. It is tolerant of both sun and shade and can grow in a variety of soil types and pH levels.

You’ll see this plant typically grown as a shrub and can be pruned to maintain a compact shape or to encourage branching and more blooms. It can also be trained into a small tree form with a single stem.

When To Prune:

Like other plants, the French Manicure™ Panicle Hydrangea blooms best when it’s pruned yearly. Pruning in early spring before new growth appears can help promote a fuller, more robust plant with plenty of blooms.
