Happy October my friends! Are you ready for all the seasonal goodness that Autumn brings? I sure am. One of my favorite things to do when the seasons change is switching out my dishes and glassware along with my home decor I love using fun seasonal coffee mugs, festive dinner and serving plates and of course my glassware gets an update too. I was delighted when I was asked if I’d like to learn more about Neutrall, a woman led, Austin TX. Based company making cute and eco-friendly glassware you didn’t know you wanted until you saw them.
Cute and Eco-Friendly glassware:
My thanks to Neutrall for the complimentary set of glasses used in today's post. No further compensation was received. All opinions and love of eco-friendly products are my own.
About Neutrall:
Neutrall is
a glassware company offering a product line that is sustainable, eco-friendly,
and carbon neutral. The glasses are completely made from upcycled discarded
glass. The company was founded by a career conservationist and business leader,
who believe that sustainability can be a part of every business model. The
products, which include glassware and bowls, are all made in the USA, and the
company is based in Austin, Texas.
While
reading about the owners, Sarah Scott
Mitchell and Ernesto Humpierres I felt their passion for
sustainability, upcycling, and educating us on where our products come from so
uplifting. This is so much more than a glassware company; this is a movement in
the right direction to help abate our carbon footprint!
According to Neutrall- “The largest
exporter of glassware in the world is China. They exported $18 billion worth of
glassware in 2020, with much of it landing on store shelves in the United
States. While people don’t give it much thought when they are looking at the
product, those glasses traveled 11,000 miles to reach the store shelf. Add that
to the issue that we don’t know all the regulations in place when creating the
glass. Some glassware can be potentially dangerous, having high levels of lead
and cadmium that can enter our bodies when drinking out of them.”
I knew in theory that we as a
nation have become a fast economy, relying heavily on imports. The supply chain
issue is having an adverse effect on everything from computer chips for new
cars to our favorite hand cream. So, what can we do? Neutrall has a few
suggestions to get us moving in the right direction!
- Upcycling. Rather than starting with fresh raw materials, sustainable glass is made through an upcycling process. This is when previously used glass is taken and reused to make something better, sustainable glassware.
- Carbon offsets. All glassware purchased through Neutrall provides the opportunity to purchase carbon offsets, which guarantees that there is no carbon footprint.
- Durability. The glasses are strong and durable, which ensures that they will last a long time. Sustainable glasses are something that will not need to be replaced for a long time, thus reducing resource usage.
- Commitment. Sustainable glassware helps people keep the commitment they made to being environmentally friendly. It provides a simple way to obtain the items needed, but not create waste in obtaining them.
- Packaging. Sustainable glassware comes in eco-friendly packaging, so there is zero waste. The packaging is made from recycled materials and can be recycled.
Why Purchase the cutest glasses you didn’t know you wanted?
Beyond the
obvious cute and functional factor, buying sustainable glassware is a step in
the right direction for anyone who wants to do their part to help change the
world. I’m in! Also, according to co-founder
Ernesto Humpierres. “It makes people feel good to know they are doing good, and
we are happy to know we help make that possible. We have the most eco-friendly
glassware that money can buy.” That’s a total win in my book.
