School Safe, Allergen-friendly Valentine’s Day treats

Even though it’s been a few years since I was a room Mom setting up a classroom party in middle and elementary school, I remember always putting allergy reminders on the classroom sign up invitations. Even though I’d ask for individually wrapped treats with no peanuts or eggs, there would still be a well-meaning parent that would send in treats that weren’t clearly labeled. I always enjoyed the special time I spent with each of my daughter's making special class projects like Valentine's day boxes, goodie bags, and cards. My aim was never perfection, and truth be told, sometimes our tries weren't the prettiest or biggest, but they had a lot of heart! 

Pro Mom Tip:Use a fine point marker or sharpie!

I tried writing on the outside of the mini granola bars with just a pen, but it looks a little light, but the ink didn’t smear in the handy TO and FROM spots on the wrappers.  Since the writing spots are a bit small, it is a mini granola bar after all, parents may need to help younger children.

More Tips:

Another option if time allows would be to type up labels and print them out to affix on each treat. If you’re adding them to a goodie bag, then you can skip this step and just label the bag.  Another idea could be to tape a bar or two to hearts and write the recipients name on the heart. The main thing is to have fun with this project with your kids.
