Christmas Jars book by Jason F. Wright

“Based on the beloved novel by Jason F. Wright, CHRISTMAS JARS shares the story of Hope Jensen, a reporter who uncovers the remarkable secret behind a holiday phenomenon: money-filled glass jars anonymously given to people in need. The New York Times bestseller has created a new holiday tradition that has changed the lives of people in their time of need, all over the country.”

Meet Hope Jenson:

We first see Hope as a baby discovered by a waitress who will become her mom. In the opening scenes of the movie; we are fast-tracked through Hope’s life up to modern day events has her crying and leaning against her front door. I was immediately drawn into the storyline. I think you will be too.

Here’s a movie clip:

Once Hope receives a Christmas Jar her life begins to change in so many ways. Unfortunately, she also hatches a plan to get the story that is based on lies and we all know what happens when you lie. Hope’s lies come back to bite her in this feel good story, but I still rooted for the happy ending and I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

The Plan Takes Shape:

Hope’s plan to meet the person behind the Christmas Jars works out and she meets the Maxwell’s who restore furniture out of the garage shop. This is where things start to get really interesting when Hope and Ian Maxwell meet. Hope tells a lie and then a another and soon she’s in way over her head, but also has been welcomed into the family with open arms and huge doses of kindness by the whole Maxwell clan at a time when she needed their support the most.

As the days turn into weeks, Hope is spending a lot of time with the Maxwell’s and they take her into their confidence and tell her the Christmas Jars story. They had never told anybody else this story, so imagine the level of trust they are showing Hope. She’s got her story! But at what cost?

The Plan starts to unravel:

Hope tries to pull the plug on the story with her boss stating that the Maxwell’s wish to remain anonymous, but it’s too late! Her boss has already sent it to publishing. Things get really bad from here, not just for Hope, but for the Maxwell’s too when a bad accident lands Mr. Maxwell in the hospital.

Things look Grim:

Trust is broken, tears are shed, and it looks like this just might be the loneliest of all Christmases for Hope, but this is a Christmas movie and we all must believe in Christmas miracles.

I want to share more- but I don’t want to wreck the movie for you. I will share another movie snippet with you to help you get a sense of what is to come.

My Thoughts:

I adore the holidays, especially Christmas! For me, it’s all about the LOVE and warmth and happiness of the season. Nothing brings that to life more than a Christmas movie! If you love family-friendly, feel good, holiday movies then Christmas Jars is for you!

I was drawn into the story early on and the cast of characters kept my attention until the very last scene. No cheesy acting or over the top scenes here; just a feel- good story that leaves me wondering how I’d never heard of Christmas Jars before? What kind of Christmas elf am I?

The Takeaway:

I can’t wait to share this movie with my family! Thankfully, I’ll be receiving a DVD copy to thank me for hosting the giveaway today. I wish we were all free to go to see it on the big screen on November 4th since there are showings in our area. You can check for showings near you and purchase tickets here.
