If you follow me on social media, you may have caught my recent post about the film God Bless Bitcoin. The overall consensus was, most of us don’t know much about BitCoin. One follower even said the idea of BitCoin scares her. In an effort to better understand this type of currency, or crypto currency, I had the opportunity to interview the producers of GodBless Bitcoin for today’s post.

Q&A with God Bless Bitcoin Producers Brain and Kelly Estes:
Q. - Money and religion are topics that spark heated dialogues for a lot of people, so why did you choose to pair them in this project?
A. - It wasn’t so much that we set out to pair these two; that was a natural evolution of the goal, which was to examine money through a moral and ethical lens. The base layer of morals and ethics are the sacred scriptures of the world’s religions: the Bible, Torah, Koran.
It is no accident that money is one of the most discussed topics in the Bible; humans struggle with how to use money well. So, if we look at our current financial system to judge its ethics, we see that the printing money with no hard assets to back it actually steals our time and God-given talents from us, allows governments to wage war and to punish its citizens and other countries.
It appears that our current money is not ethical or moral. We then looked at bitcoin to see if it might be a more moral form of money. Turns out, it holds its value since there are only 21 million that can ever be created, and it is decentralized so governments can’t weaponize it.
Q. - What age group or demographic do you feel this film will resonate with the most?
A. - The younger generations, our children included, feel the effects of money printing the most. Millennials today are the first generation that will not be better off than the previous one. So, they wonder if they will ever be able to purchase a home, have a big family or even a family at all.
Our own children wonder how they have a college degree and despite being salaried are living paycheck to paycheck. It is the younger generations who embrace bitcoin the most because it is hope for them.
Q.- What is the number one thing you want people to take away from God Bless Bitcoin?
A.- Our goal was to pique people’s interest and show them the hope that bitcoin offers. We believe that knowledge is power, so our film gives a general explanation of bitcoin and how it works, but ultimately, the film is a springboard for people to learn more about how bitcoin can help them live a life of abundance.

My Thoughts:
I appreciate Brian and Kelly taking the time to answer my questions so thoroughly. This interview gave me context prior to me watching God Bless BitCoin and I did find their answers insightful, especially with regards to my own young adult daughters.
Truth be told, I will need to watch this film a few more times to fully grasp all the information it contains. Even though these topics were covered, I still have so many more questions on the topics like:
- How Do we Fix Our Broken Money
- The Ethical Ideology of BitCoin
- Our Money and Privacy in our current financial structure
- Is BitCoin Safer

The TakeAway:
If you watch the film, which I recommend you do if you have any interest in money and politics. Yes, it does touch on religion as well, but in an academic way. I think you’ll come away with lots of questions and you may be even a little surprised at the facts shared and the people who speak up on behalf of BitCoin in the film. I personally was surprised when Mr. Robert Kennedy Jr. shared that the average American household makes $5,000 less than is needed to keep up with current inflation.
