 Have you been enjoying the crisp fall air this week? I sure have, even though that meant covering my plants and bringing in my herbs a little sooner than I normally do. It’s all part of the growing cycle here on our little homeplace. Notice, I call it “homeplace” not “homestead”, so why am I reviewing a book all about starting a homestead? With Halloween right around the corner, I was excited to learn about the new original animated film Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo, from Warner Brothers Home Entertainment. I grew up watching everyone’s favorite mystery solving gang, so I happily agreed to share this new film with you to keep the love of Scooby and the gang alive.

Happy October dear readers! There was a chill in the air, leaves are starting to change colors, and there's pumpkins everywhere. For some spooky season is the BEST season and I've got to admit, I've been bitten by the Falloween bug this year! My porch is decorated and parts of my home are as well, but I still need some cute pieces to tie it all together.  On September 29th, I had the honor of attending my first ever red-carpet event to provide media coverage of the Nashville Film Festival’s 53rd opening night presentation of The Return of Tanya Tucker featuring Brandi Carlile. Not only was this a special evening full of firsts for me, including enjoying a fantastic theater experience at the historic Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN., it was a first for my husband and teen daughter as well. We enjoyed ourselves immensely! I’d love to share my thoughts on this film, with (hopefully) no spoilers for you.

Here in the south, humidity starts rising in late March or early April and doesn’t abate until late October, early November. That means for the better part of a year, southerners, or anybody in a high humidity area are seeking ways to lower the humidity in our homes in late summer. I was thrilled when I received the opportunity to try a Newair Compact Portable Air Conditioner and dehumidifier because our AC unit needed some help in certain areas of our home. Read on to learn my thoughts on it.  

Humidity Relief in Sight!

We kicked off September with a fun and tasty Labor Day BBQ and my mouth is still watering over the perfection of our meal. My husband, master griller and smoker of meats, pulled out all the stops by smoking up a tasty beef rope sausage from Southside Market and Barbeque out of Texas and a brisket we bought locally. If meat is a love language for you too, you’ll want to read on.
