I normally wouldn’t start a book series with the last book, but I did just that last month when on a whim, I received an email from Blogging for Books about of Noelle by Greg Kincaid. I had never heard of the McCray family, the cornerstone of a series of novels by Mr. Kincaid, but when I saw the snowy scene and the adorable little dog on the cover of Noelle, I was drawn in.

Take time to be creative this month

I adore January for a multitude of reasons. My youngest daughter was born this month.  Linens and home goods are on sale this month. I get to plan and organize a lot of things in January. Filling out new calendars and planners for the year is time well spent in my opinion. As I was organizing my stack of planners and notebooks, I noticed I had several craft and hobby books I needed to find a home for as well. That’s when I realized that unless I made time to be creative this month (and every month of the year), I would need to block out time to allow myself to enjoy hobbies and creative endeavors.  January is the perfect time to be creative! Dust off one of your hobbies, or start a new one. Read on for some creative ideas.

This Christmas was hard. I was really sick with the flu and I had to rely on my husband and daughters to do the lion’s share of holiday preparations.  When you are so sick you can do little more than take medicine, rest and accept the loving help your family is providing; you have a lot of time to pray and reflect on your life and the year coming to an end. One of the greatest sorrows of 2017 was losing my mother in law. Not having her sweet presence with us this Christmas was a challenge.  She was missed!  I feel like I honor her by sharing today's tips. They come from personal experience of helping my family navigate the stresses and challenges of family caregiving while we helped care for my mother in law before her passing earlier this year.

Christmas is by far, one of my favorite times of the year.  I love the crisp air on my face and the scent of Christmas trees.  I love steamed up windows while I bake holiday treats. I adore all the traditions of the holiday!  Most of all, I love that I am secure, loved, safe and happy. My future, my world is full of hope and promise. I want to do my part to extend these feelings to other families, especially children by partnering with World Vison’s Shine Bright the World needs you program to help spread hope this holiday season. I snapped this photo last winter and I remember feeling so blessed and thankful for my life. I want to spread that kind of love and cheer from my little corner of the web today!

Happy belated National Cookie Day! I hope you enjoyed baking and eating a variety of cookies yesterday, just like I did. Since we are in the beginning of the holiday baking season, I thought I’d try my hand at making some gluten-free cookies for my family and friends who need this option. While these cookies are semi-homemade; I was delighted with the way they turned out and so was my family. They couldn’t wait to try them when they got home since the heavenly scent of fresh baked treats greeted them at the door.
