You know I love sharing giveaways on Fridays, and this week I've got a great Back to school Mom on the go Prize pack courtesy of Orkin, today's post and giveaway sponsor. I will receive the same cool prize pack as listed in the giveaway below, however all opinions are my own.

Class is back in session!

Orkin is back with Household Pests 101 – featuring lots Orkin’s scientific knowledge of pests. Orkin is here to help you #LearnWithOrkin so you don’t get schooled by pest problems in your own home during this busy time of year. This fun, interactive quiz will help you learn how to keep pests out of your home. Just click on the Pest Prevention Pop Quiz below to get started.

While I will admit I did pretty well on the quiz, there was preventative measures I'm going to work on in the late summer so my home will be as unwelcoming as possible when the cold weather gets here. It will be here before we know it, so Orkin says now is the time to take action to protect our homes!

I love how Orkin knows that we moms are on the go more than ever and wants to make sure you’re all set when driving the kids to soccer practice, racing to make it to school on time and just maybe getting a minute for yourself! I invite you to learn more about Orkin by visiting their website or following them on Twitter and if you are still bugged by pesky mosquito's, you might want to check out Orkin's Bite Back at Mosquito's on their YouTube channel.

School has been in session here for two and half weeks and the long, hot August days feel never ending. I was sharing with my daughters how I wished I could pull together some more "back to school" outfits for myself quickly.  That's when my stylish teen daughter Melissa, set to work on Polyvore curating some lovely sets for me. She did such a great job, I asked her to make her collection available for my readers.

By Melissa Kinsman:

When the kids go back to school, it can be stressful for everyone. This year, moms should shop for their back-to-school wardrobes, too! We have put together some super-cute and functional outfits we think you will love!

Back to school outfits for Moms

Outfit one:

Where we live, school starts in August, and it’s very hot.  So, shorts are a great way to keep cool. These Bermuda shorts are the perfect length for moms. Yellow is a great summer color and the lace adds a very sophisticated and grown up feel to the shirt. These Wedged sandals are super cute and grown up. Every mom needs a big purse, and this black, leather one will hold everything you need.

Outfit two:

Jeans rolled up as Capri's are a great way to use jeans in every season. Keds are a preppy tennis shoe alternative. The Solid tank gives you lots of opportunity to dress up with a fun jacket, or (like we did) add some bling! A nude tote adds elegance to a casual-chic outfit. If these colors are too dark for you, jeans go great with any color, you could wear a bright color and go light on accessories or you can add a patterned scarf to the dark tank top.

Outfit 3:

A soft denim, drawstring skirt gives you the comfy feel of sweats, rising just above knee length it’s very appropriate for a school event. The baby doll top is a great cut for any body type. While being a bit shapeless it doesn’t appear boxy on anyone and it can hide a muffin top. We loved this one because it’s supper affordable and comes with your super cute bling! The flats add a really cute touch, but a nice nude wedge or strappy sandal would look really good too! We loved this tote it added a nice beachy feel to the outfit!

If you'd like to learn more about the items in my sets, please visit me on Polyvore and follow my Mom, Linda there too!

Which outfit would you like to wear "Back to School" and why? Can you guess my favorite?

I can still remember it like it was yesterday- the diaper bag and my purse never left home without a fresh supply of Original Cheerios when my girls were little ones. Fast forward a decade and I’m still serving up Cheerios for snack time.  I don’t put them in my purse as often as I used too, but Cheerios are still a favorite part of snacking here. My kids cheer and thank me when greeted with this yummy after school Cheerios Trail Mix snack.

My WAHM Plan: Cheerios for after school snacking #giveaway

Cheerios have always been more than just breakfast food here at our house. From mid- morning snacks, to night time noshing, Cheerios add just the right amount of crunch without being overly sweet or salty. We prefer Original and lightly Frosted Cheerios for our snacking, but Cheerios comes in more yummy flavors like:
  • Honey Nut
  • Banana Nut
  • Multi-Grain
  • Multi-Grain Peanut Butter
  • Apple Cinnamon

My daughters almost picked Banana nut flavor on out last trip to Publix because Cheerios are on sale right now as BOGO’s. Who doesn’t love a good sale on a household staple like Cheerios? The sale runs August 13 through September 2, so you have lots of time to stock up like we did. Once I told them I’d make my Cheerios Trail Mix, in the Frosted and Original boxes went in the cart.

Cheerios Trail Mix Recipe:
Makes 3 cups.

Cheerios Trail Mix recipe on MyWAHMPlan.com

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Original Cheerios
  • 1 cup Frosted Cheerios
  • 1 cup Mountain trail mix. (Mine has raisins, peanuts, almonds, cashews and chocolate). Feel free to raid your pantry for trail mix items and add your kid’s favorites.
  • 1 gallon zipper close baggie

Directions:

In zipper baggie, pour in Cheerios then Mountain Trail mix, or one cup of your own ingredients like raisins and nuts. Close bag and gently mix all ingredients. Pour into a medium sized serving bowl and set on the table for after school munching!
The great thing about this trail mix snack as it can double as a breakfast cereal or to go breakfast in a bag if you are running late!

Looks good doesn’t it? It really is so quick and easy to whip this up and have it waiting for your kids after school.

Does your family love Cheerios too? I invite you to head on over to Cheerios.com for more tasty recipes and to learn more about the Cheerios products. Be sure to download or print out your BOGO coupons so you can stock up while shopping at Publix too.

If you’ve been reading my blog for long, you must know how much I love working with Publix on their campaigns, especially food ones because they want to help us save on brands we know and trust, like Cheerios. I appreciate both companies as my sponsor of today’s post and this giveaway!

One lucky reader will receive a $10.00 PayPal transfer! I hope that you’ll shop and save on Cheerios at Publix with your winnings, but if you don’t have a local Publix store, perhaps you’ll buy a box of Cheerios anyway.

Hi, guys!  Today, I’m reviewing The One by Kiera Cass, the sequel to The Selection and The Elite. If you’d like to read the other reviews for the books in The Selection Series, click here for The Selection and here for The Elite.

The One by Kiera Cass
Courtesy of Harper Collins

Book Summary From Publisher:

35 girls entered the Selection. Only 1 can win.

The time has come for one winner to be crowned. When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown – or Prince Maxon’s heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose – and how hard she’ll have to fight for the future she wants.

My Summary and Thoughts:

America Singer is one of the five girls left in the Selection. The Selection is nearing its end. And to America, it should have been over ages ago. She is in love with Prince Maxon, and he has made it clear that he loved her from the beginning.

But not everyone is ready for America and Maxon to choose each other. Maxon’s father, King Clarkson, detests America. Manipulative and cruel, he does all he can to force America out of the competition. Nor are her fellow Elite ready to concede defeat. And there’s still Aspen. America has recognized that she no longer loves him, but she hasn’t found the words to tell him. While she doesn’t want to marry him, like they had planned back in Carolina, she can’t imagine a life without him in it, and she’s terrified of losing him.

America and Maxon both make unlikely alliances, and find friends in people they never would have thought they could trust. But will it be enough to protect them from the threat of the rebels and those who refuse to see them together? Can America hold on to the beautiful future she sees ahead of her? Or will she lose it all?

YOU GUYS, THIS BOOK. My mom, sister, and I all read it like our lives depended on it. Which, as our fellow fangirls or boys understand, it kinda did.

The One had the perfect balance of happiness and sadness. There were scenes with Maxon and America that were so cute, I could die.

But it had its fair share of heartbreaking scenes as well. America, as well as Maxon, Aspen, and her family lose and gain so much. Everyone in IllĂ©a is touched by the war. (I can’t say much more, because of spoilers, of course.)

The ending was perfect, and I just want to hug Kiera Cass for making me so happy. But I want to know more! I wish the epilogue had been fifty pages longer, because the stories of these characters are clearly not done. That’s why I’m so, so, so, so excited to read The Heir, the fourth book in the series. A collection of all the novellas that are also part of the Selection series is going to be released in October 2016. (If you want, though, you can read them all separately now.) And, sometime in the winter of 2016, we get the fifth book! So, there will definitely be more Selection fangirling in our future.  Will we ever really stop?

Comments! There’s actually one more reason to freak out that I didn’t mention - there’s going to be a movie adaptation of The Selection! So, do you have any ideas for who should be cast in the upcoming movie? Let me know in the comments below!

I’d love to connect with you guys! Join me on Instagram, Tumblr, Goodreads, and Pinterest.
