It’s Friday, in the middle of July, so I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume you have some type of social gathering planned for this weekend. If you have non-drinkers in your social circle, too, I think you’ll be happy to read more about a delicious drink dupe from Better Than Booze and pick some up for the weekend.

Sunday Roast Chicken Recipe

in , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Friday, September 19, 2014

In a recent post featuring my new Roaster pan, I said I would share this recipe and I’m happy I’ve found time to today. Maybe it will inspire your Sunday meal plans. Speaking of inspired, my take on this recipe came after I was flipping through an old Bon Appetit magazine. We didn’t have most of their ingredients, but that didn’t stop us! We used what we had on hand and loved the results. Feel free to add your own flair and substitute ingredients as needed.

  • 7) sprigs fresh Rosemary, dried.
  • 1) 4-5 pound whole organic (if possible) chicken- patted dry.
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt or salt of choice (we used fresh ground pink Himalayan rock salt).
  • 1 tablespoon dried Sage.

  • ¼ teaspoon ground dried Marjoram.
  • ¼ cup water or dry white wine.

fresh vegetables and Rosemary

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 400° F

  • Pour ¼ cup water in bottom of roaster.
  • Place chicken in center of vegetables.
  • Mix butter and sage together in small bowl. (micro-wave butter to soften as needed.)
  • Using a basting brush or fingertips, rub sage butter over chicken. Pull skin off breast meat and spread sage butter there if desired.
  • Use the rest of the sage butter on vegetables.
  • Sprinkle salt, pepper and other dried herbs over chicken.
  • Roast chicken and vegetables in 400 ° F oven for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 375 ° F, continue roasting until thermometer inserted in chicken reads 165 ° F and veggies are tender.
  • Stir and baste once.
  • Add Creamini mushrooms after 45 minutes cooking time.
  • Cook for approximately an hour and 15 minutes. Check chicken for doneness right before the hour mark and plan cooking time accordingly.
  • Once chicken and vegetables are done, transfer vegetables to serving bowl, cover to keep warm.
  • Tilt chicken allowing juices to flow from chicken,
  • Put chicken on cutting surface.

Happy New Year friends! I hope this first week of 2021 is going well for you. Here at my home, remote learning is in full swing for my daughters. My husband is back to work, and I’m back in my home office full time. I’ve got so many fun posts to share with you this year starting with a great product from my friends at NewAir. They were kind enough to send me a complimentary portable tower heater that we’ve already put to work this winter. If you need to quickly heat small spaces, this portable tower heater may be perfect for you.

The Mother of All Meltdowns - a Must Read

in , , , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Monday, November 04, 2013

I am thrilled to share this book with you on a Monday. You know the day we Moms have to switch from weekend mode back to work mode, get everybody out of the house dressed, fed and on time. And we are supposed to do it without becoming a screaming shrew. Yeah, I don't like Monday's much either, in fact, I am running late right now getting my post up, but after reading The Mother of All Meltdowns- I know these wonderful Moms will forgive me.

About :The Mother of All Meltdowns:

MyWAHMPlan.com

"Every mother, at some point, inevitably becomes her own worst enemy. In a millisecond, her halo crumbles and she has a moment so crazed it is forever known as the one…The Mother of All Meltdowns.
This anthology was written by women who have had their moments. Together we have experienced the anguish and frustration of the adult-sized tantrum. We have shed the tears, dropped to our knees in agony, and asked the age-old question, “Why me?” From poop-decorated rooms to having our liquid gold scrutinized and confiscated by TSA, we’re not afraid to share our collection of thirty tell-all stories. We are survivalists and know that within every meltdown there is a silver lining."

I invite you to meet these honest, engaging women by visiting the website  HERE and following them on Facebook and Twitter.

My Review:

Reading this book was cathartic for me not only as a Mom, but as a multi-tasking Blogger much like these ladies. They open up and rip the band-aide off the "everything is FINE" scenario all Moms have tried to pass off. Truth: We have all had moments we would love to forget happened, so I stand up, applaud and say Brava! to each and every women who shared in The Mother of All Meltdowns.
This book has a chapter for every age and stage of childhood, plus a diverse line up of Moms. You will find yourself laughing, crying and nodding in agreement as you read.
The Mother of All Meltdowns shows you clearly that we are all just humans trying to do our best with several nods to wine, poop and sweat. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the LOVE. It is at the very heart of every story.
I am so happy I got invited to read this book, I saw myself in the pages and I bet you will too! My favorite quote is: "The Greatest motherhood truth is to recognize you are not alone!" by Melissa Swedoski .

Head on over to their website or purchase your copy at Amazon.

As always, I hope you found this review helpful. I hope you will enjoy reading this book and would love for you to stop back by and let me know your thoughts after you read it. Since it's selling like hot cakes- I would love to hear from you if you have already read the book too! Leave a comment and share your favorite meltdown in the book, or if you are brave share your own meltdown here.

Disclosure: I received a free PDF copy of The Mother of All Meltdowns in the hopes that I would share my opinion of it on my blog. No other compensation was given, or asked for, I was only to happy to share this book with you because I felt it would interest you my readers as much as it did me. We are in the preliminary stages of planning our Thanksgiving day here and for me and my girls that means choosing which tablecloth and napkin set, we’ll use this year.  We all have our favorites and it really won’t matter to me which ones we choose as long as they are clean and wrinkle-free.  I love table linens and was fortunate enough to be gifted some vintage tablecloths from my Grandmother in Law and three handmade doilies from my Grandmother.

The fact that she crocheted these doilies herself make them even more special to me, so I decided early on to bring them out only during the holidays to preserve their beauty. Sadly, there was a staining mishap the last time I had them out. I didn’t realize there was a stain until the next day, so it set in and I was afraid it may never come out until I remembered, I’m a Biz Stain Fighter Ambassador! Read on to see how you can prep your holiday linens with Biz just like I did.

Happy July friends! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th! I took some much-needed time off and must say, the stay-cation was just what I needed! I’m all set to jump back into blogging and think it’s pure serendipity that my first post back is a book review called The Vacation. If you like psychological thrillers, then the latest book by T.M. Logan, The Vacation is for you.

The Vacation by T.M. Logan Book Review #BookedUpAllNightReads

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Markerly, however all opinions are my own.

We are just three days away from finishing up the first month of 2014 and if one of your goals for this year is to monetize your blog and increase your blogging income then joining Markerly blogging network may be a perfect solution for you.

I know what some of you may be thinking: you’ve joined several blogging networks, spent lots of time filling out their applications and adding your stats in their network only to never hear anything else from them after receiving the initial welcome email.

Markerly is different.  Unlike those other networks, I was sent opportunities to apply for within the first 48 hours of joining. Yes- within 48 hours!  Markerly really does work with bloggers of all sizes. Finally, I found a network that cares about the quality of my work and my readers engagement, not just my stats. As a matter of fact, they are sponsoring this very post, so if they are happy to work with my up and coming blog, they will have opportunities for you to. Does this sound good to you? Then take a look at some of Markerly’s other features:

About Markerly:

      MyWAHMPlan.com

  • Markerly is a full service managed network with 24/7 Blogger support.
  • Markerly gives you heat maps of your entire post so you can see what people were clicking on.
  • Markerly pays bloggers within 48 hours of a post going live.
  • Get free products to review like wine from companies like Last Bottle Wines and Invino or cool ear buds from Jaybird.
  • Markerly's network is open to anybody that has over 10,000 page views a month or an average of 3 comments per post.
  • Markerly is very focused on quality blog posts and bloggers that have engaged audiences.

                                 MyWAHMPlan.com

I’m a member of several Influencer marketing networks and I have never been paid within 48 hours of my post going live. Ever! That is a huge plus for me as a blogger and brand influencer. I want to work with a company that recognizes my efforts and pays me quickly for them.

If you’ve been wanting to add another revenue stream to your blogging efforts, why not consider Influencer Marketing via sponsored posts? It’s a great way for brands to connect with bloggers and their audiences to sell more products and gain awareness. With Markerly you may get to work with brands like Levi's, Super Bowl, TruMoo, eMeals and more.

Because Markerly is unlike other influencer marketing platforms and their blogging network focuses on quality and authenticity you can write sponsored content that still feels true to you, not some cut and paste post that bears no resemblance to your natural writing style.

        MyWAHMPlan.com

In my opinion Markerly is one of the best blogging network to find sponsored content opportunities and get paid to work with awesome brands. I invite you to learn more about Markerly and if you like what you see and feel you would be a good match then join Markerly’s blogging network .

Cocktails Southern Style Review and Southern Mule Recipe

in , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Tuesday, March 18, 2025

As we get ready to welcome spring and the fun celebrations of the season, I’m reminded again of how often cocktails and mocktails are a part of these annual gatherings. I was delighted to have the opportunity to review a new book, Cocktails Southern Style by Belinda Smith-Sullivan, and share her Southern Mule Recipe with you today.

Welcome Spring with Southern- Inspired Cocktails!

Welcome Spring with Southern- Inspired Cocktails

Fall is rapidly approaching folks and I for one am happy to see that one of my favorite times of year officially starts in 11 days.  Fall is a fun season, full of great outdoor events and festivals.

You can find all sorts of festivals to attend- everything from sports and family fun to beer and wine festivals, just head to Google and type in your zip code and festivals.  We were looking for a family event,  when I discovered a unique festival coming to Nashville, TN. in October; a book festival. Yes! A book festival!

We are a family of avid readers, so how I didn’t know about this festival, which has been held in Nashville since 1989 is beyond me.  Better late than never as the saying goes! I knew I had to extend a warm, southern style invitation to all of you to come visit us in Nashville and check out this festival!

Humanities Tennessee's Southern Festival of Books was first held in Nashville on the second full weekend in October in 1989, and has been held annually on the same weekend since then. It is one of the first book festivals of its kind, a true celebration of the written word, and has inspired hundreds of similar book festivals throughout the nation and beyond.
The festival is free and open to the public. No advance registration or tickets are required. All seating is on a first-come basis.
The dates and times for 2014 Southern Festival of Books are:
Friday, October 10, 2014: 12:00 noon - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 11, 2014: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 12, 2014: 12:00  noon - 5:00 p.m.

Fall is a wonderful time to visit Nashville. The heat and humidity of summer are a quickly fading memory and Nashville welcomes you with classic southern charm and hospitality. Plus, by this time of October, you’ll get to see all the pretty fall leaves.

I participated in this campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and compensation as a thank you for participating.

Recently my dishwasher started having an odor. And the dishes, especially the plastic cups my daughters used daily, smelled so bad they refused to even try them. I spent a lot of time re-washing dishes and I had to break down my dishwasher for a good scrubbing.

I was baffled by the sudden stink because I lightly rinse my dishes and I don’t let them sit dirty over-night. That’s when I decided it must be the cleaner I was using. I admit it; I had bought a bargain brand at the grocery store to save a few bucks. We’ve all been there I’m sure.

So I was so happy to learn that I had been selected to try CASCADE ® PLATINUM PACS!

My Review:

The very first thing I noticed was the scent of the Cascade© Platinum Pacs.  The pacs actually smell good. They call it Lemon Burst. To me they smelled like Lemon-Lime ice pops and clean all rolled into one.

I put on of the tri colored packs in my dishwasher and waited for the results. With Cascade being the # 1 recommended brand, I will say that my expectations were very high.

While dishwasher was running, I was cleaning up my kitchen and I loved the clean, fresh smell coming from the dishwasher.

After the cycle was done, I checked those plastic cups first. No stink at all! I could pour milk in a cup straight from the dishwasher again.  J
Another thing I noticed was how my silverware looked. So clean and shiny. Actually, all my dishes looked clean and shiny.

on my plate
Clean & Shiny!

After the dishwasher was emptied of all my oh, so clean dishes, I stuck my head in there for a smell check…. Delightfully clean smelling and  the interior was super shiny!

I’m sold! Cascade© Platinum Pacs did all they claimed they would and more. I highly recommend Cascade© Platinum Pacs!
