It has been a long week here at my house. Full of busy work days and after school activities
that could have easily pushed me to the fast food line on a number of occasions, but thankfully since I’m a Balance Bar Insider; I had a secret weapon in my purse and could say yes to their new Chocolate mint cookie crunch bars without any guilt! My thanks to Balance Bar for sending me complimentary products for today’s post and giveaway. All love of chocolate and healthy snacks are my own.

My WAHM Plan tries new Chocolate mint cookie crunch #BalanceBars

I’m going to be honest with you; I do not always practice healthy eating habits. I make sure my family eats all meals in a timely fashion, but for some reason- I don’t always sit down to a proper lunch during the week.  My kids are at school; my husband is at work, so it’s easy for me to nibble on fruit or cheese while I work in my home offices, or around the house. By the time the kids get home and we have to get to a rehearsal or club, I’m famished!  Balance Bars help keep me going.
Balance Bars offer healthy portions of protein, carbs and fat
The great thing about the new Mint Cookie Crunch Balance Bars, besides the fantastic flavor, is that they truly are a balanced snack or light meal alternative.  Check out their nutrition facts:

My WAHM Plan: Take a bite out of hunger with Balance Bars

I’m thankful to have these bars on hand while running yet another errand after school with my girls. Who, by the way, LOVE these tasty bars more than I do! While I do like these minty good cookies, they get a bit too sweet for me by the end of the bar, so I prefer their natural Bare bars which you can learn more about on my post here

I invite you to learn more about all the Balance Bars available and where you can purchase

them by visiting their website and by following them on Twitter.  While at their site, be

sure to read their 40-30-30 nutrition facts.

Mid- Year Progress Report time

in , , , , , by Linda A Kinsman, Tuesday, June 03, 2014

Hello my dear readers. We have made it to the third day of June, 2014. I shake my head at this phenomenon, not quite believing it. Time really does march on whether we want it to or not doesn’t it?

As I was flipping yet another calendar page this morning, I started thinking about all my hopes and plans I had at the beginning of this year and I thought it would be a great time to check my progress before the slower pace of summer takes over.

I’m not one to make New Year’s resolutions- but I do make goals and plans and I’m betting you do some sort of evaluation and dreaming for the bright and shiny new year as well.

I’m not going to share my list here, but I will touch on a few key subjects I’ve been paying attention to this year and give myself a grade.

1. Work smarter, not harder.  When I wrote that on a fresh piece of paper way back in January, my goal was to be more mindful in each task and not allow myself to be pulled from one task to another and lose my work flow.

Grade to date: A

2. Make time for offline pursuits.  As most Bloggers will attest, blogging requires a lot of online time. From posting, to uploading photos to sharing on social channels- there is a lot of moving parts, most all online.

Grade to date: B-

3. Take better care of myself.  Running two small businesses is a sedentary lifestyle that I thought I had a handle on, but the mirror and my activity level said otherwise. I wanted to feel fit again. Okay- maybe not Jillian Michael's fit, but my body type fit again.

Grade to date: C

My mid-year progress report isn’t stellar, but it isn’t all bad either. I see lots of positive progress and room for growth.

Best of all- I see that I still have time. Instead of feeling bad that today is the 154th day of the year and I’m not knocking it out of the park- I prefer to think there is still time to accomplish my goals since there is 205 days until Christmas and 211 days until we start a shiny new year.

If you are feeling rushed, stressed and pulled in too many directions at this point in the year, maybe you should schedule a mid-year progress report time with yourself. Find a quite spot and honestly assess your point in life today. I bet you’ll come away with some pretty solid grades as well.

Please share in comments- do you make new year resolutions?

Here’s to a happy, stress free summer for all!

Happily Breaking Rules

Happy Monday! We had a beautiful, restful weekend here at Casa Kinsman. I hope you enjoyed your weekend as well.

I’d like to take a moment to announce my new and improved tagline: Keeping the focus on home as a work at home mom.
I am thankful that after many tagline attempts, I have finally thought of one that allows me to :
A. Tell those who don’t know what WAHM stands for and
 B. that I’m all about my home life. Without it and the wonderful people who share it with me, I would be lost!

Okay, I’m admitting it right here and now:  I did not like the rigidness of writing out my action plan and sharing it.
Not that I don’t want to share… no, I do so enjoy sharing; it’s just that the act of typing everything out, trying to get the numbers to align here on Blogger (what gives html)? And then doing it all again on Friday was, well, tedious.

Doing this type of post looked oh-so-good on paper and followed the “rules” I’ve been reading from the pro bloggers. But, I hated it, so I’m chucking the whole thing! No more Monday and my plans.

But wait, doesn’t that fly in the face of blog schedules and continuity and flow? Yep, I’m sure it does, but I don’t care. No, really, I don’t care.
Because I firmly believe in the quote by David Allen in the picture above: “You can do anything, but not everything.”

What a powerful message! Each and every time I over reach, or more to the point, over-think my life, I get stressed, so today and every day I will remember what I can and cannot do. And I will happily break a rule or two along the way if it means peace and harmony and balance.

How about you? Are you happily breaking a rule? Or are you still trying to be super woman doing everything?
