Wordless Wednesday: Basil, Blackberries, Bananas

Happy August and happy Wordless Wednesday! This post isn't going to be wordless though, since it needs a little explanation. Since I've been on a summer schedule here on the blog, posting about once a week, I thought it would be fun to show you what I've been doing offline besides being with my family.

Basil plants in containers

1. I love container gardening, especially herbs! My Basil usually does well and I have enough to cook with all season long and (fingers crossed) make Pesto too.

2. We picked a few big bowls full of our homegrown blackberries. I wanted to make blackberry freezer jam, but alas, one berry plant doesn't yield enough for me to do that. Our local farmers market hasn't had enough on hand for me to purchase (they sell out too quickly!), so I'm going to plant another come fall.

3. Got too many ripe banana's? Do what I did. Make from scratch banana pudding! It's what we do in the south when it's to hot to bake pies. Your family will thank you for it as the gobble up this tasty dessert.
